That was way back inNovember of 2021. So, I’ve spent three years expecting something completely different from what’s shown in the trailer.

What Happens In The Your Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man Trailer?
The trailer introduces an entirely different timeline that, as far as we currently know, has nothing to do with the MCU’s established Earth-616. Peter is 15 years old and has only recently obtained his powers. It’s so early he’s still wearing a makeshift outfit that looks more like bad cosplay than a superhero costume. He’s awkward, talkative, and livestreams his spider-outings.
A major twist comes when NormanOsborncalls Pete to Oscorp. A flash of security footage plays under Norman’s declaration, “So, you’re Spider-Man.” He continues, “With my help, you’ll achieve greatness.” We cut from a shot of a high-tech lab to Spider-Man decked out in the white-and-black Future Foundationsuit.
If that sounds familiar to the relationship Tom Holland’s Spider-Man had with Tony Stark, that’s on purpose. This is a parallel story that’s operating almost like a “What if…”.

The animated series premieres on Wednesday,January 29th, 2025, on Disney+. The first season will have 10 episodes.

The trailer gives MCU fans something they’ve been asking for, for nearly a decade—a street-level Spider-Man story.
Homecomingtook place mostly in the suburbs and at Parker’s school. We didn’t get Spider-Man web-swinging through New York City. ThenFar From Homealso missed that local flavor as the story occurred abroad and struggled to find moments for Spider-Man scenes. And thenNo Way Homeis finally Peter in New York City, but it’s this epic, end-of-the-world scenario. Don’t get me wrong, I lovedNo Way Home, but it was a lot.
A lot of Spider-Man’s charm is the character’s day-to-day life juxtaposed against his crime-fighting. TheMCUfilms have given us a lot of Peter Parker but barely any of the classic Spider-Man shenanigans that made the Sam Raimi/Tobey Maguire films feel so lived-in. This two-minute trailer had more of that classic vibe than any of the Holland pictures.
