Helldivers 2is the talk of the town once more after the gaming community got creative and used mods to spice up its experience. While mods are not officially supported, director Johan Pilestedt warns players to tread carefully, for they might be at risk of being banned.
Modders are creative individuals and tend to tamper with things that should be left untouched. Pilestedt is not encouraging this activity, but there are no consequences for doing so unless the in-game anti-cheat will detect these activities as cheating, which will drop the ban hammer.

Director Johan Pilestedt revealed he got his start in game development through creating mods, and one door led to another to where he is today. While it may look impressive,the director was honest about the amount of work and effort it would take to support it. Regardless of how a player uses these mods, whether they are playing alone or in a full squad, there are consequences, and one of them is the risk of being banned.

There is no telling how the anti-cheat engine works, and under the wrong circumstances, the player could be banned if they are caught. However,the director did mention that it is his dream to develop a game where official mod support is providedfrom the start, and it will likely never be this game no matter how hard the developers try.

Rather than going behind the backs of the developers, it is not a bad idea to just play the game for what it is and put these creative ideas someplace else where they will not jeopardize the game’s quality on the player’s account.
