This article contains spoilers forX-Men ’97.
X-Men ’97head writer and producer Beau DeMayo has recommended a slew of material for audiences to watch and read in preparation for episodes to come, which usually point towards what fans can expect from the show in the coming weeks.
This week’s recommendations came in the form of the X-Men storyFatal Attractions, certain plot points of which have already been set in motion in Episode 8 ofX-Men ’97. We saw Magneto declare war on Humanity, and Professor X appears in the nick of time to assemble his X-Men to fight whatever the Master of Magnetism has in store.

However, if these plot points lead to the same end destination that the comic book does, fans might be in for one of Wolverine’s most brutal scenes from the comics.
X-Men ’97might see Wolverine leave the X-Men after the war with Magneto
As Magneto declares war on humanity, the X-Men might meet the mutant leader in battle, which might spell doom for one character. In theFatal Attractionsrun of X-Men comics (recommended to be read by series creatorBeau DeMayoahead of the next episode), Wolverine loses his adamantium skeleton when Magneto rips it out of his body, leaving him horribly wounded. This enrages Charles Xavier to the point where he puts Magneto into a coma, leaving behind Colossus to take care of him.

Wolverinehas gone through a lot in his long life, and the master of magnetism, in multiple timelines, has been routinely responsible for dishing out some of the most horrible wounds that the character has been dealt. While this is something that might never make an appearance in the live-action side of things,X-Men ’97might find a way to depict this horrid fate of the character in its finale, which would cause Wolverine to exit the team, as he did in the comics.
Wolverine could have a solo adventure in season 2 ofX-Men ’97
X-Men ’97kicked off the season with Storm losing her powers, and the rest of the season followed her as she got her powers back. Similarly, Season 2 of the show could see Logan embark on solo adventures, dealing with characters unique to his story. Characters like the Silver Samurai, Daken, X-23, and others, could always make an appearance in the show, thanks to Wolverine’s solo adventures, as the X-Men continue with their heroics.
The Evil Son of Wolverine and Mystique is Powerful Enough to Beat Some of the Most Famous X-Men in the Marvel Universe
Wolverine could join the team in the finale in a bid to fight some big threat, perhaps Apocalypse, who restores his adamantium skeleton, prompting Logan to join the X-Men as a full-time member again. Wolverine is one of the most tortured X-Men characters and has a lot of solo stories thatX-Men ’97could explore, especially given the slew of content that has been produced around the character after the end of the originalX-Men: The Animated Series.
X-Men ’97can be streamed on Disney+
