Tobey Maguire made a name for himself as Spider-Man in Sam Raimi’s beloved trilogy. Quite a few fans even today simply cannot picture anyone but him as the iconic comic book character and it’s not hard to see why. Now it appears a WWE star accidentally recreated an iconicSpider-Man 2moment at the Royal Rumble Premium Live Event last night.

Spider-Man 2has a legacy that remains unmatched even now, largely thanks to being considered the greatest superhero movie of all time. It is certainly not hard to see why, considering all the things the movie got right, from its portrayal of Spider-Man, what it meant to be a hero, Peter Parker’s mundane struggles, and more.

A WWE Superstar Accidentally Recreated One OfSpider-Man 2’sMost Iconic Moments At The Royal Rumble

During the Royal Rumble Premium Live Event, the Men’s and Women’s Royal Rumble matches were the highlight of the show, Kairi Sane created a memorable moment when she attempted to avoid elimination. Despite her efforts, the Damage CTRL member couldn’t re-enter the ring, leading to her elimination from the competition for the coveted WrestleMania spot.

The WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion entered the Royal Rumble at number 11, following her partner Asuka, who entered four spots earlier. Sane and Asuka worked for a significant portion of the match, making efforts to prevent Bayley and themselves from being eliminated.

Kairi Sane faced the edge of elimination in the Royal Rumble when thrown over the top rope. Grasping onto the ring’s edge, Asuka attempted to save her partner. But despite their efforts, Kairi lost her grip and ultimately fell to the ground and got eliminated in the process.

However, she actually hung onto the ring apron for a while using purely her strength. Funnily enough, Kairi Sane ended up recreating one ofSpider-Man 2’smost iconic scenes whereTobey Maguirestopped a subway train using his webbing and own strength.

WhatSpider-Man 2Does Better Than No Way Home

Spider-Man 2introduced Alfred Molina as Otto Octavius, who transforms into Doctor Octopus after a tragic accident fuses four formidable mechanical tentacles to his body. Influenced by these prosthetic arms, the genius physicist turns into a murderous criminal.

InNo Way Home, Molina reprised his role, but there was a notable difference in his appearance. Unlike the 2004 film, the Tom Holland film heavily relied on CGI for Doctor Octopus’ tentacles. While the use of CGI has been a critical point for MCU movies,No Way Homewas unable to replicate the realistic effects of theSpider-Mansequel, which utilized puppetry for Doctor Octopus’ signature tentacles.

Controlled by four people, the puppetry in Sam Raimi’s film aimed to make the sequences as authentic as possible. Therefore, Raimi’s film trumps Holland’s movie in this aspect.
