Marvel Studios will allegedly bring the character of the brother of Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye to the silver screen. It is reported that an A-list actor was approached to play Barney Barton aka Trickshot in a potential second season ofHawkeye. According to Marvel Comics, Barney and Clint Barton did not share the best brotherly bond between them.

Barney Barton is a former FBI undercover agent who used to work as a bodyguard for criminals. However, things go south when he goes on to work with the supervillain Egghead. Barney had to enlist the help of Clint and his fellow Avengers to take down Egghead, but he is seemingly killed in the process. However, Barney’s resurrection as Trickshot is one of the darkest origin stories.

According to insider Daniel Richtman, Marvel Studios is eyeing an A-lister to play Barney Barton aka Trickshot in the MCU (@cosmic_marvel/X). This character will reportedly make his first appearance alongsideJeremy Renner‘s Clint Barton in the potential second season ofHawkeye. Marvel has made no official comments about introducing the role of Barney Barton.

Marvel lore has it that Barney and Clint were orphaned very young and spent their childhood traveling with a carnival. Clint becomes the assistant to the Swordsman in the carnival, which makes his brother jealous and bitter. When Barney decides to leave the carnival and join the army, he invites Clint to join him. However, Clint is late to arrive at the bus depot and the brothers separate.
Barney becomes an FBI agent and works undercover for criminals. While working for a criminal named Marko, he encounters Clint again who arrives along with his mentor Trick Shot to rob the criminal’s mansion. Clint abandons his mentor and stays by his injured brother’s side.

When Barney’s next undercover assignment brought him to work along with the criminal Egghead, things go wrong for him. After losing his fellow bodyguards, Barney goes straight to the Avengers, including his brother Clint. During the encounter with Egghead, Barney seemingly sacrifices his life. It is only after his ‘death’ that Clint realizes his double life as an FBI Agent.
Barney Barton turned into Trickshot, becoming a blood rival to Hawkeye
Egghead retains Barney’s body in a healing chamber. However, he is killed by Hawkeye in an ensuing battle, leaving Barney forgotten in the healing chamber. He is later found by Helmut Zemo who manipulates Barney into turning against his brother. They seek help from Clint’s former mentor Trick Shot to train him in using a bow and arrow.

Trick Shot’s cancer worsens once the training is completed and Barney delivers a dying Trick Shot to the Avengers Towers as a message to Clint. Later, when Clint encounters Barney, the latter announces himself to be the new Trickshot. Barney defeats Clint and takes him to Baron Zemo.
Zemo sets up the two brothers against each other in a duel. Clint defeats his brother in the duel. to taunt Trickshot, Zemo transferred all of his funds to Clint. Hawkeye takes Barney into custody and the brothers continue to have a tense relationship over the different Marvel storylines.
