The decline ofGame of Thronesas a series has been one of the greatest tragedies in Hollywood. The series’ ending has been regarded as one of the most controversial in the history of television. While there were many reasons for such a big claim, Daenerys Targaryen’s decline into insanity and the suddenness of it can be labeled as the root cause.

Before the issues began, few shows could do character arcs as well asGoT.One of the best examples is that of Tyrion Lannister. One of the most adored characters in the series, his story is one of the most fascinating ones in the entire show.
While he was caught in many heated moments throughout the eight seasons, the most important progression for his story can be narrowed down to one moment; when he was put on trial for the assassination of King Joffrey Baratheon.

The Court Trial of Tyrion Lannister
The fourth season ofGame of Throneswas certainly memorable. While several serious conflicts were going on, the one that stirred the most trouble was the assassination of King Joffrey Baratheon. Soon after his death,Tyrion Lannisterwas accused of being the culprit behind the poisoning, all as a ploy by his sister and father.
“I’m guilty of a far more monstrous crime. I am guilty of being a dwarf. Oh, yes I am. I have been on trial for that for my entire life.”

With all the judges and witnesses having some or another reason why they wanted him dead, it became apparent that the trial was simply a means to an end.

There was a mockery made of Lannister as he was rebuked for a crime he did not commit. Humiliated over and over; until he had enough. On the final day of the trial, Tyrion Lannister finally snapped. After holding back and holding his tongue his entire life, he decided to say his truth.
“I did not do it. I did not kill Joffrey, but I wish that I had. Watching you vicious bastard die gave me more relief than a thousand lying wh*res. I wish I was the monster that you think I am. I wish I had enough poison for the whole pack of you. I would gladly give my life to watch you all swallow it.”

After many shocked gasps from spectators, Lannister demanded to be given the opportunity for a trial by combat. This scene marks one of the biggest moments in the series, having had a huge impact on the entirety of Westeros and Essos.
Game of ThronesFans Fawn Over Perfect Scene
Even though ten years have passed since this scene aired, fans ofGame of Thronesstill cannot get enough of it. While some focus on the impact the trial had on the story itself, others talk about how it affected the character of Tyrion Lannister. This can be regarded as one of the most significant moments in his character, and fans could not agree more.
Many compared the masterpiece of a scene to later arcs in the series, pointing out that the writers seemed to stop caring aboutPeter Dinklage‘s character as much as they did before. Others focused on the actor’s performance and stated that he deserved immense acclaim for it.

He deserved an Oscar nomination just for his acting in this scene. I don’t care if it’s from a tv show.
