Yuto Suzuki’sSakamoto Daysis one manga fans have been following for a long time now. There are many different shonen works that take on the slice-of-life tropes on the side.Spy x Family, The Way of the Househusband, and many other anime and manga follow such patterns to add a mix of different genres in an otherwise already explored trope.

Sakamoto Days

Sakamoto Daysdoes the same. It takes a retired hitman wanting to live a normal life and pulls him back into a world filled with action. Needless to say, there were many fans following the manga and more who were awaiting a possible anime adaptation. By the looks of it, the wait may not be for long. However, that is not to say that everything might be going smoothly.

Sakamoto Days Might Be Getting an Anime Adaptation

Netflix has been going above and beyond to expand its forte when it comes to anime. FromBlood of Zeus, My Happy Marriage,Violet EvergardentoDevilman Crybaby, the range is extraordinary and mediocre at the same time. Sometimes, the streaming network may outdo itself with wonderful adaptations. On other occasions, it may fall short, such was the case forKnights of the Zodiac: Saint Seiya.

As per the May 2024 issue ofLicense Global,Sakamoto Daysis scheduled to have an anime adaptation on its way. While the news in itself may come as a surprise to fans, it is the fact that Netflix has picked the anime up to be even more peculiar. The reason for this hesitation is that there is yet to be an official announcement from the streaming service about the same.

However, as per the lineup presented by the issue, the anime is listed for the 2024 premiere alongside shows such asSquid Gameand theJake Paul vs Mike Tyson Boxing Match.

Things Look More Grim than Bright for Sakamoto Days

While the news in itself is nothing short of well-received by the fans, it comes with a fair share of problems. Fans have found themselves internally debating with regard to the announcement. The announcement in itself felt weak, seeing how it spread about first with a grain of salt and then with a shaky belief.

There are always two extremes when it comes to Netflix anime adaptations. As per the fans, the series could go in the direction ofDelicious in Dungeonand please everyone, or in the path ofRecord of Ragnarok, and ruin a much-loved manga.

That is not all, though. Despite stating there to be a 2024 release, there is no confirmed animation studio, no first look or key visual, and no voice cast either. The anime seems to have no foundation at the moment and little to no time for it to be produced. Furthermore, all big animation studios are piled with work, asking them to prioritize between other shows.

ForSakamoto Daysto be picked up by a big-name studio would mean overstressing the animators and thus compromising the quality of not just one anime but all those that get mixed in the chaos. On top of that, with no concrete news about the upcoming anime, the chances of it looking promising are negligible.

Sakamoto Daysis scheduled to premiere in 2024 on Netflix.
