There’s not much that needs to be said while introducing Bryan Cranston as his work in front of the camera has always proven that he’s one of the greatest actors in modern history. Cranston made his acting debut at the age of 8, which isn’t a commonly known fact about him. It was during the 90s that his career began to pick up.

Whether it was his ability to deliver hilarious dialogues or the on-screen romance that boiled between Whatley and Elaine Benes, Cranston’s role made him extremely popular. Nearly a decade beforeBreaking Badcame into being, skyrocketing Bryan Cranston’s already successful acting career, he managed to get onto a show calledThe X-Files, starringGillian Andersonand David Duchovny.

The producer of both shows,Vince Gilliganhad once revealed how and when he met Cranston, including what made him fall in love with his prodigy-like skill as an actor. During an appearance onWTF with Marc Maron, Gilligan said,

Gilligan described the role as “real scary” and “bad*ss guy”, whichBryan Cranstonsuited the best. The producer added,

You’ve gotta understand we worked with a lot of great actors on ‘X-Files,’ but I never had that eureka experience of saying, ‘I wanna work with this guy again in the future.’

Cranston was not a recurring role, rather working onThe X-Fileswas simply a one-and-done deal. However, he left a mark on Gilligan’s brain after filming the episode.

While speaking to Marc Maron, the 57-year-old producer who is most famous for his work onHancock,El Camino,Better Call Saul, andCommunity, revealed that he rediscovered Cranston onMalcolm in the Middle(2000).

Bryan Cranston was cast as the beloved father of Malcolm, Hal. Years later, the 68-year-old actor accompanied Gilligan to AMC during the pitch. Even the executives were baffled that Gilligan wanted Cranston to take up the role of Walter White. He added,

The producer stated that they all knew him fromMalcolm in the Middle, and they only assumed he was a great comedy actor. But they were completely wrong asBreaking Badwon several awards including two Golden Globes, multiple Emmys, and a few Writers Guild of American awards.

Cranston also won six Emmy Awards under the categories of Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series and Outstanding Drama Series. He also won a couple of Tony Awards and Critics Choice Awards along with many more.
