Valheim’s senior developerJonathan Smårshas shared a short clip showcasing the new inventory feature that will arrive with the upcoming Hildir’s Quest update, which is planned to release before the highly anticipatedAshlands biome update.
Although much smaller in scale compared to a biome expansion, Hildir’s Quest will come with a series of interesting new features. The curious update will introduce a new NPC named Hildir. Alongside this new character, the update will also come with new clothing and hairstyle options that will allow you to get even more creative with your character.
On top of that, the new update also comes with a highly requested quality-of-life feature that allows players to stack items during inventory management. Smårs says the new feature will hopefully make life in Valheim easier.
Thanks to the stack all option, it will be possible to store items instantly as long as there is one of those items in the storage. According to the developer’s answer to a player’s question, the option will also “try to make a stack of everything already in the chest if there is enough room.” The developer also says that players can simply hit Shift + E to make use of this feature.
In addition to this basic, yet effective, quality-of-life improvement, Valheim’s Hildir’s Quest update will also allow characters to wear helmets while still showing off their Viking braids. Normally, wearing a helmet makes the hair invisible, but it seems like that will change with the new update as well. Another short clip from the developer shows how a Valheim character looks both with and without his helmet.
Alongside the hair and helmet compatibility, the development team is also hard at work on tailoring new server settings. In the team’sannouncement post, developerIron Gate Studiosstates tit is working on an easy mode, a casual mode, and a hard mode. The easy mode will be suitable for players who would prefer a more relaxed approach, and the casual mode will allow players to keep their equipment upon death. The hard mode is planned to “provide a challenge to experienced players.” While Valheim Hildir’s Quest update seems exciting with all of its new features, there is still no word on its release date.
