Soulslike games are riddled with intricate details wrapped in layers of mystery and lore. As a result of this mystery, fans of these games often find themselves digging deep to find more details. Sometimes these details lead them to craft unheard theories related to fan-favorite characters; other times they speak of connections between two big games. As one fan theory suggests,Elden RingandDemon’s Soulsmight be related.

Elden Ringis a big game, and numerous fans have come up with a bunch of theories about it over the years. A number of them turn out to be true; others prove false, but that does not discourage fans from continuing digging. Imagine their excitement when they realized that maybe FromSoftware based one of the endings inElden Ringon their first soulslike.
The theory saysElden Ringmight have a special connection toDemon’s Souls
Demon’s Soulswas released back in 2009 to mixed reception from gamers and critics. People were trying to find out what this game was trying to do with its hard-as-nails difficulty. Eventually, this game became a cult hit and marked the beginning of the Soulslike franchise.
“Almost all the credit should go to Hidetaka Miyazaki”: George R.R. Martin Doesn’t Want to Take Any Major Credit for Elden Ring Despite His Crucial Role in the Game
Games likeDark Souls, Bloodborne, Sekiro, etc. followed; all of them brilliant in their own way. Then FromSoftware launchedElden Ring, their first open-world game yet. It ended up becoming a phenomenal success.
This popularity also led Sony to task their first-party studio, Bluepoint, with developing a remake ofDemon’s Souls. This game launched in 2020 for the PlayStation 5 and was loaded with graphical fidelity and other technical achievements.

Now, years after the launch of bothDemon’s SoulsandElden Ring, a theory is making the rounds on the internet. It suggests that these games have a very special connection. It suggests that one of theElden Ring’sendings makes a conceptual connection toDemon’s Souls.
For those unaware,Elden Ringdeals with the concept of “destined death,” which basically means a fateful death that would come for sure. This death is somehow being controlled by someone in theElden Ring, and some characters even manage to cheat destined death at some point.

Fans must now understand that this connection is not a direct one; it’s not even about the story at all. It’s just about the themes that these games explore, most specifically those of death. Both of these titles show death as an inevitable and natural part of their respective worlds.
“He actually knew about the Dark Souls games”: Hidetaka Miyazaki Admitted He Was Afraid About His Early Meetings With George R.R. Martin For Elden Ring
It looks like instead of connecting these games directly, Hidetaka Miyazaki connected these games philosophically. As gamers usually see destined death as a mysterious aspect of theElden Ring, they know it exists, yet they never see it in any shape or form.
If it was done intentionally byHidetaka Miyazaki, then it is no doubt a very commendable job.

This is not the only connection between these games
There have been other connections in soulslike games over the years. For one, the gameplay of these games has mostly been unchained. Then comes Patches; he has shown his face in these games in some form.
