Ubisoft may be working on a brand new and unannounced IP, according to a tidbit from Kotaku’s Jason Schreier during a now unavailableKotaku Splitscreen podcast. He stated in a tweet on his official Twitter account that he heard the news ahead of Ubisoft’s E3 2019 presentation on Monday, as well as further clarifying the nature of the leak’s information:

According to said rumors, Ubisoft’s experiments in RPGs have led to a “small-scoped” RPG title known asOrpheus. The project’s art style is said to be comparable toThe Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, although gameplay will allegedly be on a much smaller scale.

This isn’t Ubisoft’s first foray into RPGs, as we’ve seen from the recentAssassin’s Creed Odyssey, which took plenty of inspiration from CD Projekt Red’sThe Witcher 3. There’s alsoChild of Light, which is most likely what’s closest to this mysterious Orpheus in terms of size and style.

Although normally codenames are unrelated to the actual game’s content,Orpheusmight hold a clue as to what the RPG might be about. In Greek mythology, the major stories about Orpheus are centered on his ability to charm all living things and even stones with his music (the usual scene in Orpheus mosaics), his attempt to retrieve his wife Eurydice from the underworld, and his death at the hands of those who could not hear his divine music.

Ubisoft teased quitea few surprisesfor E3. During a recent financial call, the publisher announced that it hadmultiple unannounced projects in the works that will be releasedbefore the end of this current fiscal year. According toa recent leak, one of those potential games slated to arrive could be that ofRoller Champions. In addition, a recent leak has been confirmed in the form ofWatch Dogs Legion.

Titles such asGhost Recon Breakpoint,The Division 2,For Honor, andRainbow Six Siegehave previously been mentioned to be present at the show.
