Getting divorced can be really messy, especially when one person seems to have moved on a lot. Sofía Vergara, who had been pretty quiet about her split, finally let it slip that she’s been seeing someone. But lately, she wasn’t too sure about it, saying she was actually “kind of single.”

With her trademark good humor, she still seems optimistic about this new chapter in her life and is even making jokes about it. But with this latest comment, has the new relationship cooled off, or is it just a way to officially address what everyone thought was a solid commitment?
Sofía Vergara’s Relationship With Doctor Justin Saliman Does Not Seem To Be A Real Commitment
The public has known for a while thatSofía Vergarais in a new relationship after her seven-year marriage toJoe Manganielloended. The actress shared that she was dating orthopedic surgeon Justin Saliman in her Instagram stories earlier this year.
However, in a recent interview withUs Weekly, she opened up about her love life and mentioned that New York is the ideal city for meeting people and dating. With that, she ended up revealing her current status:

Actually, I was talking yesterday about it because now I’m single so … kind of single. [Laughs.] Anyways.
She didn’t clarify what she meant by that, but the two had been involved for about a year. Three months after her separation from Manganiello, Saliman’s name was linked to hers, but it’s safe to say that the word “relationship” never came out of her mouth — it was just speculation based on what people were seeing online.

In August, the actress had confessed that she was enjoying life with Saliman. However, this didn’t clarify much about whether it was something casual or more committed. Currently, it seems that neither of them has taken a step forward in whatever they have. (viaMarca)
Sofia Vergara Won’t Stand Her Modern Family Criticism for Stereotyping ‘Loud, Crazy’ Latin Women: ‘I play her the way I see my mom’
Because of this, she also gave a more detailed response about New York and how the city helps her in love. For Vergara, there’s a more diverse crowd there than in Los Angeles, for example. The entertainment world isn’t where she wants to focus; she’s interested in meeting people outside the industry as well.
The actress also admitted toPeoplethat she couldn’t be too picky about her boyfriend choices. According to her, “you never know what the future is going to hold. You always have to do your best, be the best person for each other.”

Sofía Vergara And Joe Manganiello Provided Different Reasons for the End Of Their Marriage
Vergara and Manganiello — who is currently dating actress Caitlin O’Connor — announced their divorce in July 2023, but the matter lingered for quite some time afterward. This was largely because the two were publicly at odds over the reason for their split.

The actress had initially claimed that it all stemmed from a mismatch in what they both wanted for the future. In an interview withEl País, she revealed that the actor wanted children while she didn’t. However, that’s not exactly how the situation turned out, according to Manganiello. In an interview withMen’s Journal, he denied this:
That’s simply not true. We did try to have a family for the first year and a half. And we had a huge conversation right out of the gate during the first month we dated. I said, ‘If you’re done with kids, then I understand. Just tell me, and I’ll know what this is, and that’s okay.’ But that wasn’t the case with her. And I swore to her that I would never leave if it didn’t work out. And I didn’t.

The actor ended up very frustrated, largely because Vergara seemed to have distorted the issue of children. According to him, the desire for a family was genuine, but it wasn’t the reason for the divorce.
To be painted as if I had some sort of midlife crisis, and after nine years, turned to somebody and gave them an ultimatum of, ‘Do this potentially unhealthy thing to your body, or else I’m gone’? That’s never who I was.
In an interview withVariety, Vergara commented on the subject and took the opportunity to add some irony, saying,“at the end of the day, you never even know if that’s what he said for real.”
In May, during an appearance on The Talk, she let her good humor shine when she mentioned her tattoo of the initial “J,” referring to Manganiello. She joked that she was lucky to recycle it since Saliman also has the same initial. (viaE! News)
