Sega held on May 26 this month’s SegaNama stream. In case you forgot, these are monthly streams with Sega’s Chief Creative Officer Toshihiro Nagoshi and MCAyana Tsubaki, sharing news on Sega games, chatting and commenting on subjects bought up by viewers. We systematically cover SegaNama streams on DualShockers. This time, Toshihiro Nagoshi most notably spoke about the record sales of Nintendo Switch andAnimal Crossing: New Horizons.

Around 17 minutes in, Toshihiro Nagoshi commented on how the Nintendo Switch is selling super well along withAnimal CrossingandRing Fit Adventure. He mentioned howAnimal Crossing: New Horizonssales are getting close to 20 millionand how it’ll show there’s a market for similar games. In particular, if the game’s digital sales keep rising, it would also show how there can be a new market when it comes to “soft” players buying digital games. “Casual” or “Soft” players seldom buy games digitally, but grabbing a Switch and seeingAnimal Crossingout of stock physically might push them to buy the download version instead. Overall, Nagoshi is pretty happy about the situation and how games are doing well, even if not from his own company.

He quickly mentioned sales overall for PS4, and smartphones especially have surged too. With how people are trying to find ways to busy themselves without going out during the Covid-19 pandemic.

While Toshihiro Nagoshi is known for theYakuzaseries, I personally don’t believe one second this small chat could hint atYakuzagames getting to Switch at some point. I can’t imagineYakuza: Like a Dragongetting announced on Switch followingXbox One and Xbox Series X.However, I do believe Sega is planning to bring some of its recent PS4 games to Switch at some point. I wouldn’t be surprised if games such asShin Sakura Taisenor13 Sentinels: Aegis Rimended up on Nintendo Switch.

We’ll publish a full summary of the whole SegaNama stream shortly, so like Ulala would say, stay tuned.
