The actress added that she did not think being aware of certain subjects that might be too sensitive for comedy is not necessarily a bad thing. Julia Louis-Dreyfus Explains WhySeinfeldWouldn’t Get Made Today

During the same interview, Louis-Dreyfus also spoke about her career choices and admitted that she would be willing to return to the comedy landscape. However, Louis-Dreyfus stated that instead of a long-running sitcom, she would like to feature in a limited series but wasn’t against returning to her comedy roots.

At the same time, Louis-Dreyfus was also asked whether a show likeSeinfeld, which lasted nine seasons, would be made in today’s climate. She said:

Seinfeld is one of the biggest American sitcom ever

I would say one main reason it wouldn’t be made now is because it’s hard to get anything different recognized. Particularly nowadays, everyone’s sort of running scared.

Louis-Dreyfus made the above statement expressing her doubts over the possibility ofSeinfeldbeing greenlit in the age of streaming television.

The actress explained that the long-running sitcom was extremely different from the other shows on television at the time. She added that it was a show about a group of losers who hung out together, which gave it a unique appeal. However, in the present day where studios aren’t willing to take a risk on original ideas and are turning to established IPs, a show likeSeinfeldwould be a hard sell.
