The Sentry is a character that holds an interesting place in Marvel Comics. Created in 2000, Marvel had an interesting marketing strategy for the character, depicting the hero as something that had had a storied history at Marvel Comics, such that he went through all the beats of comic book history. He had a goody two shows era in the ’60s, and a gritty anti-hero era in the ’90s, all with appropriate costume changes.

However, as the years went on, The Sentry became a standard superhero in the Marvel Universe. One of its strongest heroes, the Sentry has fought the likes of Galactus and The Hulk to a standstill, and his introduction to the MCU is definitely going to change the hierarchy of power in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. How then, if the MCU goes this route, will it explain the hero with the Power of One Million Exploding Suns being absent from the greatest battle in the Universe?
The Sentry was present at key events in the Sacred Timeline but has since been forgotten
A theory, proposed byScreenRant, deals with why an entity as powerful as the Sentry could be absent from The Battle of Avengers Compound. While there could be a simple explanation like ‘He got Blipped’, there is a much more interesting approach that the MCU could take, staying true to the character’s comic story.Thunderbolts*could take audiences through the MCU with a renewed perspective, with key events, like when the Avengers assembled in New York or when they fought Ultron, as having involved the Sentry.

However, just like in the comics, The Sentry could have, with the help of his allies, had the memories of the people wiped, so that he could keep The Void, a malicious entity tied to the mind of the Sentry. So, while the ‘blipped’ explanation could work for other characters, The Sentry has an excuse that can make the world of the MCU feel a little more fleshed out.
Some continuity errors could spawn from the Sentry entering the MCU in a comic-accurate way
The issue with adapting The Sentry in a comic-accurate way is the fact that audiences and characters inside the MCU have seen key events in the franchise’s history through different perspectives. Be it the TVA showing Loki his history and alternate future, showing Deadpool the Sacred Timeline, or the fact that Steve, Tony, Bruce, and Scott have visited the Battle of New York inEndgame, makes it difficult to add the Sentry, given that it might break the continuity of these films.

However, inserting the character into the MCU before or after the Infinity Saga could be the key to keeping his comics’ accurate origin. Perhaps the Sentry was part of the Avengers Initiative right after Carol Danvers. It is possible that the Sentry has been in government control since before the events of Iron Man, only briefly coming out to operate with other heroes in the 90s. Alternatively, the character could have appeared in key moments after the Infinity Saga, which really does not have enough cohesiveness to work with.
