The Twilight Sagahas been a defining project for both Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart, catapulting them to fame and earning global recognition. As they proved their talent beyond the fantasy romance drama, the actors have also critiqued the franchise, including Pattinson questioning the romance between Edward and Bella.

Taking on the lead as the teenager and a vampire, who passionately fall for each other, the actors win over the hearts of many. Pattinson, however, couldn’t help but wonder why Bella Swan would fall in love with Edward, despite the disturbing aspects of the character.

TheTwilightstarsRobert PattinsonandKristen Stewartbecame one of the most popular couples both on and off the screen, starring in the fantasy romance drama. The on-screen romance spilled over their real life as the couple was together for a year before eventually splitting up.

While their off-screen romance and split sparked plenty of speculations, Pattinson also had some queries regarding Edward and Bella’s relationship. In a previous interview with Buzzfeed, he questioned the central romance of the franchise.

He mentioned in the interview how Bella was determined to be with Edward despite the unsettling aspect of his character. Hesaid,

When you put the bare facts out, [Edward] tells [Bella] he killed forty or fifty people and ‘You really shouldn’t [love me]. I wanna kill you so much every single day, every moment I’m with you I’m desperately wanting to kill you.’ And [Bella’s] like, ‘I don’t care, I love you.’

He continued,“And it’s like, well there’s definitely something wrong with her and there’s very obviously something wrong with me.”

The actor has always openly shared his criticism for theTwilight Saga, even while starring in the franchise. Similar to Pattinson, Stewart has also been open about how weird she thought the story was.

Kristen Stewart Would’ve Dumped Edward Over Control Issues

Not just Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart has also raised questions regarding Bella and Edward’s relationship in the franchise. In an appearance on theNot Skinny But Not Fatpodcast, she stated how she would have dumped Edward over control issues.

“Yeah, but, he was trying to sort of control whether or not she made choices for herself,”Stewart said before adding,“I would have broken up with him immediately.”

After the film series,Twilightis reportedly set to return again as ananimated TV series. While the details are scarce, the series is expected to adapt the books in Stephenie Meyer’sTwilightbook series in order.
