Preorders for theArmored Core 6: Fires Of Rubiconphysical and special editions have gone live on the officialBandai Namcoweb store this week following the announcement of the game’s release date.First unveiledduring the 2022 The Game Awards ceremony held last December, Armored Core 6 is set to launch for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC on August 25th.Five physical Armored Core 6 editions of varying sizes are currently available to preorder viaBandai Namco’s web store. The largest — and, accordingly, the most expensive — of these is thePremium Collector’s Edition(…rather accurately titled, if you ask me).

The Premium Collector’s Edition contains a poster, several art cards, three sticker sheets, four pin badges, a hardcover art book, an exclusive steel book, a digital soundtrack, a 32-centimetres-tall figurine of an Armored Core, and, most significantly, an “exclusive garage” in which to store said Armored Core figurine. All this plus a physical copy of the base game (or, for the PC version, a Steam key) brings the Premium Collector’s Edition to the low, low price of €449.99 — otherwise known as 450 USD.

There is but one difference between the Armored Core 6 Premium Collector’s Edition and the apparently not-so-premiumArmored Core 6 Collector’s Edition(note the lack of the word ‘Premium’), which will otherwise be comprised of the same contents. Where the Armored Core 6 Premium Collector’s Edition will contain an Exclusive Garage to complement the 19cm figurine, the not-premium Collector’s Edition priced at €249.99 (approx. 280 USD) willnotcontain a garage, ‘exclusive’ or otherwise.

Many have already taken to Twitter to argue that the addition of one ‘exclusive garage’ is not enough to justify the €200 price difference between the Collector’s Edition and the Premium Collector’s Edition. “So the garage is an extra $220?” inquires Twitter user @SuperTiso— a concern vocally shared by @rahxephon63, who writes, “$449? That Mech and Garage better be made up of Metal”. Bandai Namco has yet to announce the material composition of either the Armored Core figurine or the exclusive garage.
