Speaking with GQ, the actor was keen on pointing out how Tim Burton needs to be credited more for the current superhero landscape, given that the director’s work with Keaton on his trilogy of Batman films might be the reason why the MCU and DCU got a chance with mainstream audiences.

Speaking withGQ, Michael Keaton was all praises for Tim Burton, who he is sure is the reason why superhero cinema stands where it does today. The genre of superhero fiction has expanded greatly sinceMicahel Keatonessayed the role of Batman. not only has the genre taken over cinemas around the world, but it has also managed to work its way onto the smaller screen, be it television or streaming. Regarding Burton’s contributions, Michael Keaton said:
Tim deserves enormous credit. He changed everything. I can’t necessarily say this, but there’s a strong possibility there is no Marvel Universe, there is no DC Universe, without Tim Burton. He was doubted and questioned.
According to Keaton, the kind of thought thatTim Burtonput into his Batman trilogy, is the reason why cinemas had a renewed interest in superhero stories, allowing the MCU and the various DC universes in the states that they do.

A Batman Beyond film would also showcase an older Justice League, which further allows DC to bring back fan favorites as older versions of the characters that they have played. This would create a great Elseworlds film for James Gunn to help, despite how saturated DC’s verticals have become with Batman content.
