Admittedly back in 2002, Cillian Murphy wasn’t the star that he is today. Despite starring in Christopher Nolan’s 2005 filmBatman Beginsin the role of Scarecrow, Murphy found true fame with the role of Thomas Shelby inPeaky Blinders. In a recent interview with theL.A. Times, Cillian Murphy talked about his method of acting.
“What I like to do is prep and prep and prep and prep and then kind of park them for the shoot, because I think acting isn’t an intellectual exercise. It’s an instinctual one. So facts are useless to you in a scene with another character, another actor.”
He further continued,
“So, I have them all in my head. And then I kind of just, they just float around there and I call them if I need to. But mostly it’s just about the heart instead of the mind. You know when you’re working. What a pretentious answer.”
The actor ended his statements with a joke on his answer but that’s just Murphy being Murphy. The actor recently starred in Christopher Nolan’sOppenheimerfollowing which he is getting awards and accolades for his performance. With a strong rating of 8.4/10 on IMDB and 93% on Rotten Tomatoes, the 2023 film is available to rent on Apple TV+ in the U.S.
