The Sims 4, the latest installment of the Sims franchise, is a game about choices. About stories. It’s about doing what you want and playing it your way. And one of the most popular ways of playing is using cheats. It’s not even considered cheating in the community, either. Cheats in the Sims 4 are simply tools to tell your stories and have fun.

To open up the cheat panel, use Ctrl + Shift + C (For PC and MAC), or L1 + L2 + R1 + R2 (for consoles). Typing out cheats can be a bit tricky, especially if you’ve never done it before and aren’t familiar with programming, but it’s easy to get the hang of. Soon enough, you’ll have your go-to cheats memorized.

10A Little Money

The first cheat you’ll probably need when playing the Sims 4 is “kaching.” Typing it into the cheats panel, without quotations, and pressing enter, return, A (Xbox), or Circle (Playstation) will instantly give your household 1,000 simoleons. It’s a good, quick way to get that little extra for furnishing your first home. Or you hundredth.

If you get bored typing the same word over and again, “rosebud,” also with no quotations, will have the same effect. you’re able to use either word in Live Mode and Build/Buy Mode, so if your sims can’t make rent, you have no need to stress. We have enough money problems in the real world.

9A Lot of Money

1,000 simoleons at a time aren’t cutting it anymore. You need more money, you have big plans. You are going to build your Sims family a mansion. Or you’re just tired of having them work, and you want to play around with other things. For the budding philanthropist as well as the aspiring supervillain, you have no need to fear.

Typing “motherlode” into the cheat panel without quotations and you will suddenly be 50,000 simoleons richer than before. Now, just type it a couple more times, and you’ll never have to worry again! In the Sims 4, that is…

8Exact Change

Uh oh. You overshot how much money you needed to build your sims home, and you’re not big on them having so much money in the bank. You’d actually like for them to go to work to earn their money; maybe you’d actually have more fun if bills presented a problem for them every in-game week. Using “money x” will save you here.

If you have 100,000 simoleons and you’d rather have a modest 5,000, just type “money 5000” without the quotations, and you’ll be all set. You can also type “money 0” and take away everything, which is a popular way to start out for many hardcore players.

7Scooting The Bed (And Other Items)

The Sims 4 works on a grid system and has nice fat collision boxes, which can stop you from getting your builds as detailed as you want them to be. Using “bb.moveobjects on” will let you place things wherever you want (with some minor limitations). With this power, you can put a sofa in your fridge! Just don’t expect either to function.

“bb.moveobjects on” lets you scoot things to a more realistic spacing, especially if you use quarter-tile placement, which you can activate by pressing F5 on Mac or PC. Sorry to console players, but there isn’t an equivalent for you all.

6Secret Build Items

Look, sometimes you just want a frog in your kitchen. Or a cowplant to eat your enemies. Sometimes, you’ve spent too long fishing and rooting around in rotting logs, and you just want things now, dang it! Luckily you’re able to find these items in the item catelogs with a little cheating.

Pull up the cheat panel, type “bb.showhiddenobjects on” with no quotations, and scroll through the treasures that await. Of course, this will really bloat the menu, so if scrolling gets a little too tedious after you’ve found your hidden object, “bb.showhiddenobjects off” will put things back to normal.

5Locked Buy Mode Items

We’ve all loaded into Build/Buy Mode, ready to build a house for our new sims family, and remembered that the best couch in the Sims 4 Base Game is a career unlock for the Programming Career. With the cheat “bb.ignoregameplayunlocksentitlement”, the less computer-savvy sims can have nice living rooms too.

It’s a longer cheat with no Camel Casing, so it can be easy to get lost when you’re typing it out. Don’t use quotations, and don’t forget that the word “unlocks” is plural. I know I always forget. Once you type it out, you’ll need to click out of and back into whatever menu you were just looking at. No idea why, but just trust the process.

4Unlimited Create A Sim

Sometimes, your sim is getting along well with an NPC, you’re really excited about the burgeoning relationship, and wham! You find out that the NPC is evil. Or hates kids. Or is an insider. We’ve all been there. Luckily, we have “cas.fulleditmode” to save us from disaster. Simply type it into the cheat panel, no quotations, and shift click (PC and MAC), hold Circle and press X (PlayStation), or hold B and press A (Xbox) and choose “Modify in CAS.”

This cheat allows you to change traits and modify facial features, and voice, you name it like you’re able to when you create a sim from scratch. Though, if you’re just wanting to change up a townies' outfit, which you probably will at some point, you can just shift click (or the console equivalent) and select “Modify in CAS” without typing in the cheat.

3Locked CAS Items

Want to use those outfits locked behind careers or other gameplay but don’t want to go through the effort? Worry not! There is a cheat for you, “cas.unlockbytag (pack type)(pack number)” is here to save the day. If you want those Nifty Knitting clothes, simply type out “cas.unlockbytag SP17” (with no quotations) and save your sims the time and effort. If you want thrift-exclusive clothes from Highschool Years, “cas.unlockbytag EP12” has got you covered.

RELATED:All Sims 4 Stuff Packs, RankedIt can, of course, be time-consuming to figure out which package is which number. Thankfully, there are many community members who have taken the time to do the work for you and have uploaded sims to the gallery for you to pop into your household for a second, which will do the job of unlocking things for you. Support your fellow simmers on the Sims 4 Gallery!

2Cheating Skills

For all 10 level skills, which most skills are, you’ll want the “stats.set_skill_level major_name x” cheat. If your selected sim needs some player help mastering the cooking skill, for example, you’ll type in “stats.set_skill_level major_HomestyleCooking 10”. Just don’t type out the quotations.

Most skills will be simple to type out, “_Guitar 7” or “_Fitness 3,” for example. For minor, 5 level skills the cheat is “stats.set_skill_level skill_name x”. So for aspiring bowling champions and dog trainers, make sure to remember the difference.

1Relationship Cheats

Now this one can get pretty to type out, as you’ll need to specify Friendship or Romance and type out the names of the sims you’re targeting. Say you’re playing as Bella Both and want to make her enemies with Nancy Landgraab; you’d put into the cheat panel “ModifyRelationship Bella Goth Nancy Landgraab -100 LTR_Friendship_Main.” That -100 will get our Friendship as low as it can go.

If we are playing as Nancy Landgraab and want to make it so she has a Romance bar with Bella Goth (scandalous!), we’d type “ModifyRelationship Nancy Landgraab Bella Goth 100 LTR_Romance_Main”, again, no quotations, and that 100 will fill up the Romance bar all the way. And, if you also have that negative friendship, you’ll have the relationship tagged as “Enemies With Benefits.” Spicy!
