The Last of Us Part 2released on 19 June this year and almost six months on from that, Naughty Dog has surprisingly released a brand new trailer showcasing Abby’s turbulent journey throughout the game. Of course, if you haven’t played it yet, it’s advisable to not watch the trailer as it does contain a lot of spoilers but for those who have, we get to witness sequences that lead up to who she became and her thirst for revenge.
The new trailer starts out with Abby and Ellie fighting but then transitions to a younger Abby and what sparked her need to seek redemption. The almost two minute and 30-second story trailer goes through from when Abby finds out where Joel is to capturing Joel and then what follows. It isn’t all about Abby though as we get a glimpse of Ellie’s journey too but then again, Ellie IS Abby’s story and vice versa. You can check out the video yourself below and take a trip through Abby’s quest for revenge once more.
Scott Lowewho is Naughty Dog’s Senior Communications Manager writes in the PlayStation Blog that “With the year winding down and new players picking up the game for the first time over the holidays, we’ve put together a new trailer that provides an expanded look at the story, and, for the first time, focuses on Abby’s emotional journey as it intersects and collides with Ellie’s.” Lowe continues “It explores her origins, the events that spark her search for vengeance, and the devastating repercussions that follow. You’ll also get a glimpse into Abby’s unique gameplay and how her training, equipment, and skills contrast Ellie’s. We hope you enjoy it.”
