AsThe Last of Us Part II’slong-awaited release continues to draw closer, Sony and Naughty Dog continue to try to build hype towards launch. As of today, that hype has taken the form of a new video that explains more of what fans can expect to see in the sequel.
Following the release of a newstory trailer forThe Last of Us Part IIlast week, today’s new video focuses more on setting the stage and describing what this sequel is all about. The new “Inside the Story” video doesn’t feature any new gameplay footage or cutscenes, but it does contain key members from the team at Naughty Dog such as Neil Druckmann, Anthony Newman, and Halley Gross talking about the project.
For the most part, what is discussed in this video isn’t anything too different from what we’ve heard regardingThe Last of Us Part IIin the past. The game’s director, the aforementionedNeil Druckmann, talks about how the game explores the cycle of revenge and the effects that can come about from it. Additionally, the team talks about how carefully it approached making this sequel and how it tried to honor Ellie and Joel and their overall journey.
If there are any new story mentionables that have come about in this video, they likely deal with both Joel and some of the antagonists featured inThe Last of Us Part II. While his role in the game hasn’t been discussed much, the team at Naughty Dog sheds more light on Joel’s backstory prior to the events ofPart IIin this video. We also learn that there are two warring factions that Ellie will run across in the game while visiting Seattle, which is something we haven’t heard too much about before.
Obviously, some of these descriptions of the story are moot if you’ve already spoiled yourself onThe Last of Us Part II. Arather extensive leak for the gameoccurred a few weeks back and with it, a litany of spoilers started spreading like wildfire on the internet.
