Joss Whedon’sBuffy the Vampire Slayerholds an important place in audiences’ hearts which revolved around the adventures of Sarah Michelle Gellar’s Buffy Summers alongside her circle of loyal friends, better known as the Scooby Gang. The seven-season series was a mix of several genres which further contributed to its popularity. However, many often wondered as to why the lead protagonist has got quite a weird name.

The coming-of-age supernatural series was full-on dedicated to slaying vampires however, it also garnered attention for the alleged behaviors of Whedon on set. After the show came to an end, several of the cast and crew associated with the project reported about the alleged treatment they got from the writer.
In a 2020 interview withMetroUK, Gellar’s stunt double and stunt coordinator, Sophia Crawford and Jeff Pruitt shared that their dating allegedly didn’t sit well with the director at the time. Pruitt also shared that he shared a“great relationship”with Whedon however“he changed as the show took off.”
He eventually became fed up by season 4 and decided to leave for good but the show director didn’t have a great reaction.
“Although we loved making the show, by season four I’d become fed up and told them I was going to leave to direct Second Unit on another series. The producers told me that Joss reacted as if I was having an affair or something behind his back.”
Not just them, Spike actor, James Marsters and Tara actor Amber Benson are among the few stars to further throw the light on the negative environment of the show. Meanwhile, the series is available to watch on Hulu.
