Japan Fighting Game Roundtable - Predictions and Tekken 8

Many fans believeTekken 8could get announced soon, possibly at this event. I personally wouldn’t expect anything big to happen at the event. Arc System Works has already announced the release date forDNF Dueland showedTestament inGuilty Gear Strive. Capcom has just announcedStreet Fighter 6too. Maybe we’ll get more DLC characters for certain games, but that’s it.

Furthermore, March 21 is a holiday in Japan, and seeing the time this event is happening, it’s nearly only targeted to the Japanese FGC. The future of fighting games is outside Japan though, and Japanese developers do know that, so they won’t announce anything big there.

Tekken 8 could bring Jun Kazama back

However, ifTekken 8does get announced, perhaps we’ll see the return of Jun Kazama. Bandai Namco just announced aTekken: BloodlineNetflix 3DCG anime, taking place beforeTekken 3and before Jun’s disappearance. Jun was only ever playable inTekken 2and theTekken Tag Tournamentgames, so she could come back for 8, who knows. I’m definitely excited for howTekken 8and its story will turn out like, as someone who always loved story lines in fighting games. Will Heiachi actually come back again? Will we see someone getting thrown into a volcano for the nth time?
