Players in this game choose from one of the forces of the Hong Kong, Mongolia, Tibet, Kazakh, Uyghur, Manchuria, Taiwan, or Cathaysian rebel factions and the Red army, and expand their organizations in a total of 269 territories. The purpose of the player is to lead a revolutionary force, settle internal conflicts, win the aid of each country, develop a resistance organization and use both peaceful means and military force to exhaust the Red Army and lead the communist party. If any player has 14 or more active organizations within play, it means the Red Army’s control has been significantly eroded, and the uprising has succeeded.
Alternatively, players can take the role of the Red Army that firmly adheres to the rule of the communist party, use force to overwhelm separatists and “reactionaries” and protect the stable harmonious society by uniting all territories under the banner of ethnic and national unity. If Taiwan is annexed, the Red Army will win, but players can also take the role of the Taiwanese government and use its power as a maritime nation to intervene with the mainland’s political advances and protect the nation from annexation.
The game mixes real events from 2000 to 2020 (Trade Wars, Belt and Road Initiative, East Turkistan concentration camps, etc…) with a few fictional events. Regions from all over the world can also participate in the war, and players can seek covert aid just like in the board game from 7 different regions, including The Anglo sphere, The Indian Subcontinent, The Middle East, and Europe.
An online rule book is also now available to download on theofficial website, along with an in-depth look at the role and territorial goals of each respective faction.
