The official statements from Nintendo’s President suggested that more details about the Switch successor might not be revealed until the end of the current fiscal year. However, the recent rumor (originating from a business email about an upcoming game) has certainly placed doubt in gamers’ minds on previous assumptions about the Switch 2’s launch timeline.

According to streamer Stephen Georg, a business email he received recently about an upcoming game may have unintentionally revealed the potential launch window for Nintendo’s highly anticipated next-gen console. While it didn’t exactly mention the name of Switch, it did write Switch(es).
Georg shared the details of the email with his audience, noting that the upcoming game is set to launch early in 2025 on PC (via Steam), Xbox One & Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and, crucially, Nintendo Switch(es). After seeing the details of the email, the community was buzzing with speculation and discussion about what this means.

Why the December Reveal Rumors Are Somewhat Believable
First of all, it’s important to remember that this is all speculative at this point. Various leaks, rumors, and even the email Georg received should all be taken with a grain of Salt. Despite many knowing this, this rumor has certainly sparked a flurry of discussion in the community.
If the fans remember correctly, the original Switch was also revealed in a similar fashion. Nintendo first teased the hybrid console around October 2016 and announced that more details would be revealed next year.

In the end, until we hear something from official sources, it’s wise to take all rumors with a healthy dose of skepticism. But the idea that Switch 2 could be revealed as soon as December 2024 is certainly tantalizing, to say the least.
