DC Studios is almost narrowed down, nearing its search for the next Supergirl. As per a new report by the Hollywood Reporter, screen tests for the Supergirl role were conducted on Tuesday and two actresses’ names have been shortlisted for the forthcomingSupergirl: Woman of Tomorrowmovie, set in James Gunn and Peter Safran’s new DC Universe franchise.

The report says that Milly Alcock and Meg Donnelly are the two finalists for the coveted role and have screen-tested for Supergirl in Atlanta. James Gunn and Peter Safran were also present at the screen test to make sure that whatever decision may come should align with their vision.

Per the latest report byThe Hollywood Reporter, DC Studios is narrowing down its searches for the role of Supergirl. Screen tests for the highly sought-after role took place in Atlanta, where Gunn and Safran were overseeing the casting process.
AndMilly Alcock, best known for her role as Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen inHouse of the Dragon, and Meg Donnelly, known for her role in the popular musical franchiseZombiesand her voice work in recent DC animated movies were shortlisted.

According toThe Hollywood Reporter, it has been revealed that Ana Nogueira has been hired to write the screenplay forSupergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. As of now, no director has been attached to the film. It seems like Gunn and Co have started searching for the titular role as there might be a plan to introduce the character in the upcomingSuperman: Legacybefore she gets her solo film.

The film takes inspiration from a recent comic book series by Tom King and Bilquis Evely from 2022.
Meg Donnelly, Has Already Played the Role of Supergirl, Albeit in Animation
Meg Donnelly has got some experience voicing Supergirl in animated movies within theTomorrowversefranchise. She first voiced Supergirl in 2023’sLegion of Super-Heroes, which was Supergirl’s introduction to theTomorrowverse.
Recentl, Donnelly returned as theTomorrowverse‘s Supergirl inJustice League: Crisis on Infinite Earths Part One, which was released on January 9.

And, since then, Donnelly has been a popular fan cast for the role. So, she has the edge to play Supergirl now, though the official announcement is yet to arrive. If Donnelly finally gets the role, it’ll be a rare case to see the same actor who has voiced a character in animation and then gets to play them in live-action. Fans hope that she will be the perfect Supergirl for the new DC Universe.
