Publisher Krafton and developer Unknown Worlds has announcedSubnautica2. The game is a full-fledged sequel to the open-water survival franchise that’s set for release in 2025 as an Early Access title first on PC and Xbox Series X|S,
Alongside the announcement and early info from the press release, we were also treated to the game’s teaser trailer.

Krafton says Subnautica 2 will explore an all-new alien ocean world “rich with vibrant biomes, strange, creatures and hidden secrets.” For fans of the series, Unknown Worlds is expanding what fans loved about the games with new biomes, “from towering underwater cliffs to lush coral fields, each filled with unique creatures and hidden mysteries.”
Will Subnautica 2 Feature Multiplayer?
Krafton’s press release confirms that Subnautica 2 will officially introduce multiplayer co-op, which the publisher says will offer a new way to experience adventure. Up to four players will be able to explore the ocean’s vast environment together, and they will collaborate to craft tools, build bases, and face the dangers ahead together.

The first Subnautica game was released in 2018 for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC, and it was followed up by spin-off Subnautica: Below Zero, released in 2021. Since then, the series has remained dormant until today.
