Starring Stephen Amell, the iconic CW superhero series at the center of the Arrowverse, had an illustrious and acclaimed run for 8 seasons. However, the show could have potentially ended sooner than Season 8, as its leading star, Amell, who brought to life Oliver Queen, aka Green Arrow, was prepared to bid farewell after Season 7.

However, when he expressed his desire to the makers, he received an offer that he just couldn’t deny and ultimately returned to the beloved role for Season 8.

Following the conclusion of his eight-year stint on the CW’sArrow,Stephen Amellreflected on his journey and how he almost left the show after Season 7 during a conversation with Michael Rosenbaum on theInside of You podcast.

The actor shared that while working on Season 7, he was ready to take his leave from the show and the character. However, after receiving a compelling offer from the makers he just couldn’t refuse to return to the TV series for another season.

He told the podcast host,

“Well, you’ll have to shoot 22 episodes with us [for Season 7]… which is July through April. Are you really telling us you want to do 22 at Price X and finish in April, and not do 32 at this price, and be done in October?’ Because if you’re renegotiating, they change your episodic fee.”

And theHeelsstar deemed it financially unwise to decline such a lucrative offer and ultimately decided to return for Season 8.“I looked at it, and it would have been fiscally irresponsible for me to say no,”he said. The actor shared that he loved working on the last season of the show while acknowledging his primary motivation for doing it was financial.

Stephen Amell is Open To Reprising His Role as Green Arrow

While he was once eager to move past the character that he has played for eight years, Stephen Amell has shared that he is open to reprising his role if the opportunity presents itself. The actor has shared that there are still many unexplored aspects of the Emerald Archer.

“I love the [superhero] genre,”he said in a conversation withCBRbefore adding,“I’ve said this before, but there might be more fun stuff to do with Oliver Queen. So we will see.”Amell did reprise his role in the final season ofThe Flash.

There have also been discussions surrounding him potentially playingArrowin James Gunn’s DCU, to which he responded,saying,“I think it would be really helpful to maybe see like a frame of footage from one of the movies before I decide if I want to be a part of it.”
