A newStarfieldupdate has been deployed on bothPCandXbox Series X|S, making a handful of fixes whilst also making a pretty major change to how Creation Kit mods operate.

Over on X(formerly Twitter), the official Bethesda Game Studios account revealed all of the new fixes and details surrounding Starfield’s latest update. “With today’s update to the Starfield [Creation Kit], we are also removing the ability to upload Creations with altered ini files,” Bethesda announced. The studio then went on to state that altered ini files are “resulting in more negative effects than benefits.”

Capcom Announces Resident Evil 9, Says It Was “Really Difficult” To Figure Out What To Do After 7

Koshi Nakanishi will return to direct Resident Evil 9, but said it was difficult to figure out what to do after the series' seventh entry.

“Removing this functionality will bring Creations in line with how they work on Skyrim,” the developer went on to say. While Bethesda then ended its statement by saying it was “investigating” a way to address active Starfield Creations that have already altered ini files, fans are concerned that many of their existing mods will no longer work.

Many of the complaints come from Xbox users, as altering ini files often allows for performance-enhancing mods, such as the ability to run Starfield at 60 FPS on the Xbox Series S. “Wait, wait, wait… no .ini customisation? Isn’t that pretty shit for console players?,” one Starfield player questionedover on Reddit.

“So now I HAVE to play lower resolution and lower frame rate? The higher frame rate mod is the only reason I even gave the game another go since 30 fps fucking sucks in first person,“another fansaid.
