The success ofJujutsu Kaisenwas felt throughout the anime community. From non-anime fans recognizing Satoru Gojo to winning the Guinness World Record for the world’s most in-demand anime in 2023, the influence ofJujutsu Kaisenwas felt heavily. Nowadays, the emerging manga in the industry are also inspired by it. The creator ofKagurabachi, Takeru Hokazono, has listed Gege Akutami’s masterpiece as an influence for his newest manga.

Jujutsu Kaisenis famous for its intense fight scenes with mind-bending plot twists which go by at a rapid pace. It keeps the viewers on the edge and keeps the suspense up, but is it truly a good thing to be that fast-paced? Akutami has faced immense backlash for its poor storytelling and lack of character development. If Hokazono follows this path down to a T, it could mean trouble forKagurabachi.
Is The Fast-Pace ofJujutsu KaisenRight forKagurabachi?
Jujutsu Kaisenhad thrown their viewers straight into the world of jujutsu sorcery.Gege Akutamigave the fans no time to wait. We were already introduced to the idea of cursed energy, the powerful sorcerers who protect others, and intense battles. The beginning gave it a huge rise in popularity back when the pacing was just right.
While the momentum was up, it allowed the lore plenty of time to shine through. However, this pacing dwindled after the Culling Game Arc when battles were the focus of the manga and nothing else.

Kagurabachi Might be On its Path to Greatness by Following the One Pattern that Helped One Piece and Naruto Become Part of the Big 3
WillKagurabachisurvive a fast-paced narrative like that? Takeru Hokazonocomments on the influenceother mangas had on it:
While drawing, I thought it might be early, but when I read Jujutsu Kaisen, I thought, ‘Wow, that’s fast!’ and then when I read Chainsaw Man, I thought, ‘As expected, that’s fast!’ (laughs). I realized this is the recent sense of speed. One of the appeals of Jujutsu Kaisen, Chainsaw Man, and Kagurabachi is that I strive to keep readers engaged and actually speed things up more.

Indirectly,Jujutsu Kaisenis responsible for whyKagurabachifans know the antagonist, Genichi Sojo, much earlier than he originally planned to. Hokazono also introduced a lot of lore in the early chapters, including three out of the seven enchanted blades. He decided to do this to keep the interest of the fans on a tight hold. However, if Hokazono gives too much all at the same time, itwill backfire on the quality of the narrative. This is exactly what happened toJujutsu Kaisenand if he doesn’t stop now, it will lead to disappointment.
The Warning Signs of a Bad Ending
The reason whyJujutsu Kaisengarnered so much criticism when nearing the end of the series and for its ending is the fast-pace. It was incredibly difficult and confusing to keep up with the manga after a while. It felt like Gege Akutami had too many ideas and decided to write it all down. Meanwhile, they ended upforgetting pivotal plot pointsat the cost of another “exciting” fight sequence.

If Hokazono decides to make every idea of his come to fruition too early, he will leave no room for any solid narrative. He will have a hard time connecting the dots in the future, something that failed to aidJujutsu Kaisenin having a satisfying ending.
