Despite its early success,STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobylhas not been without issues. Thankfully, fixes to several key issues are on their way.
One notable bug in the game deals with an interesting quirk whileplaying with an Xbox controller:the right thumbstick doesn’t work. While some of these issues are due to natural causes of a controller suffering from stick drift over time, the other is due to the lack of proper “deadzone” settings. Even the gentlest breezes will cause the player to move in-game.
DeveloperGSC Game World confirms on X, formerly known as Twitter, that they are currently working on the issue.
GSC Game World Is Working Hard On Addressing STALKER 2’s Issues
That’s not the only issue players are noticing withSTALKER 2. The highly anticipated sequel promises an update to the A-Life simulation system, a hallmark of the franchise. In short, A-Life is an advanced NPC AI system that controls how NPCs behave in-game. Player actions will cause triple effects through the actions of the AI that update as players explore the world. It all helps make NPCs act more realistically.
STALKER 2 Modders Are Already At Work With Weaker Mutants, Smoother Frames, And More
STALKER 2 has averaged over one mod per hour so far.
Sadly, A-Life 2.0, a feature fans were looking forward to inSTALKER 2, isn’t working as intended. “There are several known issues with A-life 2.0 system that we are of and are working on fixes/improvements,” GSC Game World community manager Mol1t said on the Stalker Discord recently. “We know that this system is very important to the Zone having an immersive atmosphere, and we will do our best to fix the known issues.”
The game’s official X account added that they are working on updates to the A-Life system, asking players to “stay with us” as updating A-Life 2.0 is “really important to us.”
Despite These Issues, STALKER 2 is Winning Over Fans
After a long development cycle, including dealing with the fallout of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, which saw GSC World move development to Prague, Czech Republic,STALKER 2has sold over one million copies. This feat is doubly impressive as the game also launched onXbox Game Pass UltimateandPC Game Pass. In the past, developers have raised concerns aboutGame Pass cannibalizing sales. That hasn’t been the case here, bugs and all.
