Less than a year after its initial launch,Square Enix’s kart-racing game Chocobo GP is ending support with its Season 5 update, meaning it will no longer receive any further large-scale updates as of today. The publisher put up ablog postto detail operating policies for Chocobo GP after its fifth season, revealing that it will be the last season where prize pass levels are used in the game.

There won’t be new characters or maps that will be added to Chocobo GP, as Square Enix confirmed that post-launch content support for the arcade racing game will be concluded with the launch of Season 5 in the version 1.4.0 update. Rankings will continue without the use of prize pass level in the same way as the off-season period. Besides, the game will remain playable for the Chocobo GP mode itself for the foreseeable future. Square Enix has not provided the reason behind its decision to change its operating model going forward.

Players are now advised to use all Mythril in their possession during Season 5, because the shop will disappear and all in-game currency, including non-paid for mythril, will become invalid as of July 03, 2025. Moreover, sales of Mhytril on the Nintendo Shop have been discontinued with the Season 5 update. Square Enix also said that new items will be added to the shop in the new season, however, the same items may be added to the ticket or gil shops, where players can obtain them without spending mythril.

Season 5 of Chocobo GP launched on December 21, adding the Midgar course that allows players to enjoy multiplayer, time attack, and custom race modes. The new season introduces seven new series and changes to the matching process, as well as adjustments to characters like Maduin, Cid, and Sylph. Chocobo GP is an online kart-racer game that was first released in January 2022. In addition to its story mode, players can drift through various courses with friends in online modes. However, after nearly one year since its launch, it is ending content support that results in no new characters, maps, or cosmetics will be added to the game in the future.
