After being initiallyrevealed last year by THQ Nordic, information on whenSpongebob Squarepants: Battle for Bikini Bottom Rehydratedwill actually be released hasn’t been given just yet. However, thanks to a new leak from Nintendo, it now seems like we have a good idea of when to expect it.

As seen onNintendo’s official website, the remastered edition ofBattle for Bikini Bottomis said to come to the Nintendo Switch later this year on May 22. This release date appeared on a page that informs Switch owners of what upcoming games are slated to come to the platform in 2020, along with their release dates or release windows. As of now, THQ Nordic hasn’t officially announced that this is indeed the release date for the game, but it seems highly possible to be true.

One reason why this May launch date would make a whole lot of sense forBattle for Bikini Bottom Rehydratedis that it would coincide with the release of a new Spongebob movie. The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Runis set to hit theaters on the same date, May 22, later this year. HavingBattle for Bikini Bottom Rehydratedrelease on the same day as the movie would make a ton of sense from a marketing perspective for THQ Nordic, which makes the leaked date seem even more feasible.

It is also worth noting, however, that the only version ofBattle for Bikini Bottom Rehydratedthat has had its release date leaked here is for the Switch version. While it stands to reason that if the game does arrive in May then the PS4, Xbox One, and PC iterations would also arrive on the same day, there is always the chance that this could be a staggered release across different platforms. We’ll see if this ends up being the case later on.

If this May date is the official release day forSpongebob Squarepants: Battle for Bikini Bottom Rehydrated, then we should likely hear an official announcement from THQ Nordic in the near future. If that does come about, we’ll be sure to let you know.
