Fans immediately began speculating on what the post might mean, with comments ranging from enthusiasm to ridicule. Whether it pertains to a remake of an older title, as the company teased back in 2021, or whether the announcement will bea new entry in the series remains to be seen. However, what seems certain is thatsomething in the world of Splinter Cell is coming soon.

Can Sam Fisher Save Ubisoft?

It is no secret that Ubisoft has been under the kosh as of late, withstudios closing and developers being laid offearlier this year. With the questionable performance of recent releases such as Assassin’s Creed: Shadows and Star Wars: Outlaws, it certainly isn’t the worst idea to remake a beloved classic.

AsPolygon reports, a job listing was also noticed on Ubisofts website, specifically referring toa role which required “demonstrating examples of interesting and fun gameplay setups that feel uniquely Splinter Cell.”

So, could there be a new title lined up for the franchise after all? Given that the role was for a Level Designer, it seems equally probably that a brand-new entry could be on the horizon, though don’t discount the possibility of the formerly-teased remake to emerge from the shadows.

Just days ago, Ubisoft also hinteda potential Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag remake. It seems that the company is keen to revive some of its most iconic franchises, and if they’re able to deliver on all the qualities that made the originals so good, while similarly innovating and updating their games on a technical level, the future could bode very well for Ubisoft in 2025.
