As reported byInsider Gaming, a particularly dedicated fan was able to find a reference to the release window of the highly anticipatedPlayStationexclusive,Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, on the author website of one of Insomniac Games' writers. This fan posted a screenshot of it on Twitter, but the post has since been deleted. Since the internet is forever though, the screenshot is still circulating, revealing that the writer claimed that Spider-Man 2 is releasing in Fall 2023.

It states on writer Jamie Mayer’s website that she’s currently on the writing team for the upcoming title, as well as for Insomniac’s next game, of which we know next to nothing about, Wolverine.Mayer’s About Me pagehas since been updated, with the release window next to Spider-Man 2 now simply reading “2023.”

Given that Mayer is working directly at Insomniac for this project, it’s clear that this Fall 2023 window came from a place of knowledge. However, it’s worth stating that this is far from a guarantee. Though this may be a decent approximation of when the game will release, there are many reasons why the info could be incorrect, the most relevant of which is that the game could simply take longer than Insomniac currently expects.

Even in the earliest scenario, however, the release window may still be a disappointment for some. Spider-Man 2 was announced back in 2021, immediately touting a 2023 release year, so some fans hoped that the title would already be fairly close to release by now, but it looks like we’ll probably have to wait till at least September of next year.

This could be beneficial for business, though, as 2023’s Spring window is packed with blockbuster titles, likeThe Legend of Zelda: Tears of The Kingdom,Street Fighter 6,Final Fantasy XVI, and many more.

Just recently, it wasreportedthat Spider-Man 2 suddenly appeared on the PlayStation store, with an option to wishlist. Many fans hoped that that meant some new information, perhaps a new trailer, was on the way. Those are usually unlikely this late in the year, but PlayStation has had an unusual marketing strategy throughout 2022, not putting on any showcase to advertise its bigger first-party titles.
