During the conversation, Filoni talked about giving a larger role and more screen time to Bo-Katan Kryze in season 5. The writer-director revealed thatBo-Katan’s characterwasn’t something he pitched to George Lucas during their story meetings.

She was a character that I created last season; she was just “Death Watch lieutenant” in the script, and I wanted to make a strong female Mandalorian character, so I just made her that character and then brought her back into this season.
Filoni made the above statement, explaining how his desire for a strong female character and the story’s progression led to him bringing Bo-Katan back as a more important character.

During an appearance ataStar Warscelebration, Sackhoff discussed appearing as Bo-Katan in live-action, admitting that she cornered Filoni and demanded he add her character in the franchise’s first live-action series. She said:

I cornered…Dave Filoni, and I said, ‘So I hear about this show Mandalorian, and my character is not dead. So, um, how good of friends are we?’ He said it was already in the works, but I like to think that I had some sway.
Sackhoff jokingly explained that when the series was in development, she was immediately interested in reprising her role with Filoni admitting that he planned to bring Bo-Katan to live-action.
