One of the cards in the upcoming Magic: The Gathering – Final Fantasy set may be a hint about what players can expect from the upcoming final installment of theFinal Fantasy VII Remake trilogy.
During the PAX East panel aboutthe upcoming crossover expansion set, Wizards of the Coast showed offa ton of new cards, but one of them in particular caught some eagle-eyed fans’ attention.

The card in question is Sephiroth, Fabled SOLDIER; or more specifically, the creature it transforms into on the back face of the card, Sephiroth, One-Winged Angel, depicting his final form, Safer Sephiroth. It’s getting a borderless card treatment featuring original art by none other than Tetsuya Nomura, the Final Fantasy VII Remake series creative director.
However, his new art for Safer Sephiroth has some differences from his original design, which has raised some questions about the remake series.

Hinting At The Final Part Of The Trilogy?
In a social mediapostabout the card, Nomura clearly wasn’t able to say much about what the new art means.
There is also a reason that the design of Safer Sephiroth is different from the original game, but I unfortunately can’t share more about that.

Nomura also says he deliberately designed the two faces of Sephiroth, Fabled SOLDIER to line up vertically, so if you manage to get your hands on two copies of this alternate-art version of the card and put one on top of the other, it’s clear that it’s all one piece of art.
Final Fantasy’s Deadliest Monster Is Getting An OP Magic: The Gathering Card
The Final Fantasy x Magic: The Gathering crossover is bringing back the infamous Absolute Virtue from Final Fantasy XI as a legendary creature.
What exactly this all means for how the remake’s climax will differ from the original’s is, at this point, anyone’s guess, since there’s still not much we know aboutthe last part of the trilogy. We don’t even know what it’ll be called yet.
As for Magic: The Gathering – Final Fantasy, previews are now in full swing after the PAX East panel, and the officialcard galleryis being continuously updated with new card reveals and art treatments ahead of its June 13 release, or June 10 in Magic: The Gathering Arena.
