It’s easy for Groot’s species name,Flora Colossus, to cause some head-scratching, and it’s equally understandable to forget a number of Thanos’ henchmen during the Battle of Wakanda and the Battle of Earth. We explain who Corvus Glaive, Proxima Midnight, Ebony Maw, and the Outriders are.
Secret Invasion Episode 6 Recap
Secret Invasion episode 6, titled Home, saw the final showdown between Gravik (Kingsley Ben-Adir) and G’iah (Emilia Clarke) after both Skrulls had been exposed to the villain’s Super Skrull machine and endowed with the Avengers’ powers throughFury’s Harvest vial. For a moment, we thought Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) was becoming superhuman, but G’iah soon revealed that she was imitating Fury while he helped Sonya Falsworth (Olivia Colman) expose Rhodey (Don Cheadle) in front of President Ritson (Dermot Mulroney).
DNA from a pool of well-known Avengers was combined with Gravik and G’iah’s, including Captain America (Chris Evans), Captain Marvel (Brie Larson), Thor Odinson (Chris Hemsworth), and Drax (Dave Bautista). We saw both characters experiment with these new powers whilst fighting in New Skrullos as their bodies morphed to accommodate their varied abilities. However, there was more DNA taken from the Battle of Earth’s wasteland and previous battles, including a number of creatures: Corvus Glaive, Proxima Midnight, Ebony Maw, and the Outriders.

Using the unstoppable powers belonging to Captain Marvel, G’iah was able to blow a hole in Gravik’s chest, which killed him. Now a free Super Skrull agent, G’iah appeared to be walking aimlessly until she was intercepted by Sonya and offered a partnership to combat the president’s declaration of war against the Skrull race, which she agreed to.
Who Is Corvus Glaive?
Corvus Glaive (Michael Shaw) was known as Thanos’ (Josh Brolin) adopted son and a member of the Black Order—a group of elite warriors, also known as the Children of Thanos, who served their adopted father and did the Mad Titan’s bidding during his search for the six Infinity Stones.
Only appearing in Avengers: Infinity War and identified by his hooded gold and black robes, Corvus Glaive first appeared during Thanos’ attack on the Statesman, which saw the death of Heimdall (Idris Elba), Loki (Tom Hiddleston), and several Asgardians. Glaive was also part of the attack on Vision (Paul Bettany) and Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) in Scotland and reappeared during the Battle of Wakanda. He was later killed by Vision during his fight with Captain America.

Who Is Proxima Midnight?
Proxima Midnight (Carrie Coon) is another member of the Black Order and adopted daughter to Thanos, identified by her horned eyes and blue forehead. She is also the wife of Corvus Glaive and appeared alongside him during the events of Avengers: Infinity War.
Proxima Midnight assisted Corvus Glaive during the attack on the Statesman, the assault on Vision in Scotland, and the Battle of Wakanda. She targeted Wanda Maximoff on the battlefield, but the Avenger was quickly assisted by Natasha Romanoff (Scarlett Johansson) and Okoye (Danai Gurira), which resulted in Proxima Midnight being telekinetically thrown into the path of a Thresher and killed by its rotating blades.

Who Is Ebony Maw?
Ebony Maw (Tom Vaughan-Lawlor) is another Black Order member, working alongside Corvus Glaive and Proxima Midnight to assist Thanos in his search for the Infinity Stones. Identified by his smart, black, and gold attire with a rigid posture, Ebony Maw appeared in Avengers: Infinity War only and was nicknamed Squidward by Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.).

Ebony Maw was also present during the Statesman attack and later touched down on Earth alongside Cull Obsidian (Terry Notary) during the attack on Greenwich Village against Stephen Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch), Wong (Benedict Wong), Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo), and Tony Stark. The Maw was later responsible for torturing Stephen on the Q-Ship and was subsequently killed after Tony shot a hole in the ship that sucked Ebony Maw out into space, where he froze to death.
Who Are The Outriders?
Lastly, the Outriders, also known as Space Dogs, are a race of creatures that Thanos and the Black Order used during the Battle of Wakanda and the Battle of Earth. These creatures ran on all fours with black and gold skin and were present during Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame.
The Outriders were sent down in dropships to Wakanda, where they proceeded to attack the force field around the kingdom, and many of them were defeated by Wanda Maximoff’s efforts. During the Battle of Earth, the Outriders furiously searched for the Nano Gauntlet, but a majority of them were defeated by Black Panther’s Kinetic Pulse and Tony’s sacrifice when the Infinity Stones were used to obliterate them.
