Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman’sDeadpool 3was one of the most anticipated movies of 2024. Although the excitement was off the charts, fans were admittedly wary about the movie. A major reason behind that was the series of hit and misses the superhero movies have been dealing with for the past few years.

Surprising everyone, though, the movie delivered on the promise for the most part. With its brilliant action sequences, background score, story telling, and performances,Deadpool 3became one of the most entertaining movies of 2024.

There was, however, another thing that added to the movie’s success. That was, of course, the decision to put Jackman’s Wolverine in his costume and mask for the first time. Now, almost a year later, the mask in question has riled up the fans again thanks to a VFX artist working his magic in an edited clip ofDeadpool 3.

Fans were pleasantly surprised whenHugh Jackmanreprised his role as Wolverine inDeadpool 3. Especially as it seemed like his journey ended with 2017’s explosiveLogan, where the titular character died. However, after Disney’s acquisition of 20th Century Fox, they got the rights to a myriad of Marvel characters that were yet unreachable when they acquired Marvel Studios in 2009.

Now, with the MCU’s expansive multiverse developing rapidly, it has been possible to revive and reintroduce some characters that died before. For example, Loki who died inInfinity War, was reintroduced in theLokiseries, as a different version. Something similar takes place inDeadpool 3with Wolverine as well.

Excruciating Work Behind Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool Comedy Shows It’s Not Nearly as Glamorous as It Looks

Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool goes in search of a Wolverine to help him protect his world after learning that his world’s version of the mutant superhero died during the events ofLogan. He approaches several Wolverines in his quest to recruit them but ends up with“The Worst Wolverine”in the void, played once again by Hugh Jackman.

This gives the movie freedom to explore his backstory from scratch and opens up the option for Jackman to establish his character in theMCUif he so wishes in future films. Although Deadpool and Wolverine had collaborated once before in 2009’sX-Men Origins: Wolverine, this movie explored their dynamic in a more nuanced way.

The onslaught of jokes, action, vulnerability, and heart-touching moments provided the perfect premise for the audience to get attached to this new version of Wolverine without disregarding the older version in any way. Moreover, the comic-appropriate costumes gave it a nice touch and made theirintroduction to the MCU an entertaining watch.

According to many, morecollabs with Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpoolwouldn’t exactly hurt either.
