Rune Factory 5is finally getting released in English, nearly a year after the game was first released in Japan. Moreover, this is a huge comeback for fans as this entry resurrects the series after nearly ten years since the previous developing studio, Neverland, went bankrupt. Now the time has come to farm, craft, fish, forge, raise monsters, and date some anime characters.
How outfits work in Rune Factory 5 and how to change your protagonist’s clothes
Both the male protagonist Ares and the female protagonist Alice have three different outfits you can change into by default inRune Factory 5. You first have the normal SEED ranger uniform you’re wearing by default, your casual clothes which are also worn by the protagonist during the intro sequence, and a single swimsuit outfit. These are the default outfits available in-game from the beginning.
Other outfits you can buy in-game
There are several more outfits you may buy in game with Gold at Yuki and Randolph’s bakery. These are the pajamas, casual clothes, aristocratic clothes, magician outfits, and armored knight outfits.

How to get a new wardrobe
If you accidentally broke your wardrobe, you can get a new one at the carpenter for 3000 Gold, 50 Wood and 20 Stone.
Moreover, there are several bonus costumes depending on which version ofRune Factory 5you bought, and there are several paid DLC outfits as well.
Bonus costumes via limited editions
TheRune Factory 5physical limited edition “Earthmate Edition” and digital deluxe edition include bonus costumes based on the outfits of the bachelors and bachelorettes ofRune Factory 4as DLC:
Buying these editions is the only way to get these costumes. They aren’t sold separately via DLC and cannot be bought in-game.
DLC costumes and swimsuits sold separately
Past protagonists
Several outfits are sold separately via DLC. First, you have the Past Protagonist DLC, with Raguna, Kyle, Micah costumes forRF5male protagonist Ares, and Mist, Mana, Shara costumes forRF5female protagonist Alice.
Next, you have 6 different swimsuit DLCs for Ares and Alice. This is great for western fans because, in the Japanese version, these swimsuits were all spread around into various shop-specific preorder bonuses, as is often the case in Japan. This meant that if you wanted all these costumes, you had to preorder the game at different shops. Usually, hardcore fans do that, get the DLC product codes, then resell the extra copies.
Five of these DLCs are already available. The 6th DLC, the Holy Knight and the Bibliophile Swimsuits, will be released on August 11, 2025.
Rune Factory 4 Special save file unlocks bonus outfits in Rune Factory 5
Lastly, if you ownRune Factory 4 Specialand have a save of the game on your Nintendo Switch, you’ll get the costumes of theRF4protagonists. You’ll get Lest’s costume for Ares, and Frey’s costume for Alice.

The Azel and Sonia outfits are available in the Western version from the start alongside the other default costumes, just like in the Japanese version.
