Werwulf Is Set To Be Released On Christmas Day, 2026
Following the success of Nosferatu, which was released on Christmas Day, 2024, Focus Features has scheduled Werwulf to shine under the full moon on the same day in 2026.
Eggers made vampires scary again with Count Orlok at the end of 2024. Nosferatu made $40 million during its opening weekend and is currently on pace to finish its theatrical run around $100 million.

Maybe that success hurt Wolf Man. The Leigh Whannell monster movie wasinitially projected to top the box officein its opening weekend but crashed completely. That’s not scaring Eggers away from taking on the werewolf genre with his next historical epic, though.
Robert Eggers Is Keeping Werwulf Historically Accurate
Robert Eggers is known for being a history buff who wants his movies to be as historically accurate down to the most minute details.Eggers leaves no stone unturned when making movies, from the set designs and costumes inThe Northmanto the possible origins of Count Orlok in Nosferatu.
With Werwulf, the same historical accuracy is expected. Set in the 13th century, the script uses genuine dialogue from that era, according toThe Hollywood Reporter. Eggers also originally wanted to shoot the film in black and white, but that is no longer the case.

Werwulf is being directed by Eggers, who wrote the script with his Northman co-scribe Sjón, and is set to be released on December 25th, 2026.
