Between Hello Kitty, Cat cafés, and wearable cat ears, Japan is cat-obsessed, and it looks like their wholesome love for our four-legged furry creatures has seeped intoTeam Ninja’s latest RPG, Rise of the Ronin.
Similar toGhost of Tsushima’s foxes, who also created some top-notch kitties to pet, looking out for and being nice to the game’s feline friends will offer you some cool rewards and are even collectibles. Could this gamebeanymore purrfect? (A Friends reference and a pun in one sentence? Sorry. I’ll show myself out)

Kitty Collectibles
Just like in Cyberpunk 2077 andAssassin’s Creed Valhalla, Rise of the Ronin has adorable kitty cats scattered around its map. Like most cats, they all are usually sleeping or washing themselves awkwardly, but instead of just looking at them longingly wishing you could pet them, you literally can. And the extra bonus thrown in is that they are also collectibles, offering players silver coins once found.
There are many side quests in Rise of the Ronin but if you’re a cat lover, grabbing all the poor lost kitties you can find will not only fill your heart with happiness but also your pocket too, netting players a hefty sum if they collect them all by traveling to different regions marked on the map.
X (formally Twitter, ugh) userSynth Potatohas taken to the game’s cat collection service like a fish to water, even going as far as calling it “GOTY” merely due to this feline-loving feature, and posted an awesome clip of how they found a cat on top of a Shrine. In the short video, Synth grabs the cat, who initially looked like they were just enjoying the view and minding their own business, into their arms for a little cuddle and pet before it strangely jumps off the building. Was that supposed to happen?
This only strengthens the case that players actually do want to go out of their way and sink their gameplay hours into either finding helpless little lost cats or spending time petting dogs - there’s really not much more to it. It’s the simplest things many of us enjoy the most (even when it does earn us bags of coin, but that’s beside the point!)
