Resident Evil 4isn’t known for being easy and the Remake doesn’t change things up too much in the difficulty department. While the concept of slashing and bashing enemies is simple enough, there are some things that can be easy to overlook, especially for players new to the series.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed when starting outResident Evil 4 Remakethen you’ve come to the right place. These tips will help you stay alive and complete your mission of saving Ashley from the grips of an evil cult-like group that wants nothing more than to enslave the world.
10Use Explosive To Take Out Enemies
Explosions deal a massive amount of damage in Resident Evil 4 Remake and this is a fact players would be wise to remember. Dotted around most areas of the game are bright red explosive barrels. These can be used to Leon’s advantage, as shooting them will cause an explosion dealing heaps of damage to nearby enemies.
Players should be sure to get plenty of use out of Grenades and Heavy Grenades as well. They can do plenty of harm to the monstrous opponents in RE4, but be sure not to stand too close as they can also damage Leon.

9Look For Discounts In The Shop
The Merchant is one of the most reliable lifelines in the game. From purchasing direly needed items to upgrading weapons, players should get as much use out of this NPC as possible. Many of the game’s best weapons can be purchased from the Merchant’s shop.
Occasionally, the Merchant will give heavy discounts on items and weapons, but these usually only last for a single chapter. Players should keep an eye out for these deals and strike while the iron is hot. Even if the item doesn’t seem useful, saving Pesetas will prove useful throughout the entire game.

8Reserve Your Ammo
Ammo is a hot commodity in the world of RE4. While it may feel right to blow away enemies with powerful weapons every time they’re encountered, this may result in low stock of precious ammunition.

Be sure to keep an eye out for melee and counter opportunities. These will allow Leon to deal heavy damage to foes while saving ammo. Using the Combat Knife or stealthily taking down enemies are also great ways to clear the field without emptying your pockets.
7Watch Your Back
Enemies will routinely spawn behind the player. Players unaware of their surroundings can easily be caught off guard, giving the enemy a chance to deal heavy blows. Players should make it a habit to check their area when entering every room or area.
If players do happen to be surprised by an enemy coming in from behind, they should employ a Quick Turn technique. Using this will cause Leon to quickly turn around with the single click of a button, giving him much more maneuverability in battle.

6Practice In The Shooting Range
The Shooting Range is an extremely useful tool in the player’s arsenal. Not only does the Range give players the opportunity to sharpen up their aim with various weapons, but they will also earn reward Tokens that can be spent nearby.

The Tokens can be used at the vending machine nearby to unlock Charms. Case Charms will give players powerful perks that can range from Shop discounts to increased potency for healing items, so the usefulness is never ending with this mini-game.
5Aim For Weak Points
A vitally important thing to keep in mind when shooting at an enemy is where to target in order to deal the most damage. Nearly all enemies in RE4: Remake will have weak points that, when injured, deal enormous amounts of damage.

These weak points are usually pretty noticeable, but in the heat of battle, it can be easy to forget about their importance. Aim for the areas of an enemy’s body that seem the most vulnerable and you’ll clear the field in no time flat.
4Seek Out “Treasures” On The Map
Treasure can be found scatted around the world, and they can be anything from new powerful weapons to valuable gems to ammo and healing items. Treasures can sometimes be difficult to hunt down, even when displayed on the map, but they’re worth the trouble.
One of the trickier Treasure types is the hanging bundles that sometimes reside high up in an area. Some Treasures can alsopresent players with a puzzleor riddle that they will need to solve before getting the loot in the area.

3Save Gems For Inlay Combos
Gems will come around quite frequently, usually dropped by enemies or found at Treasure spots. These gems can be sold in the Merchant’s shop for a pretty penny, but they’re far more valuable when saved up for Gemstone Bonuses.
Players will find valuable antiques that have gem slots. Inlaying the gems in the correct order can increase the value of the object immensely. While it may be attractive to sell the gems right away to make quick Pesetas, it’s smarter to save and sell at the right moment.

2Repair Your Combat Knife
The Combat Knife is a useful weapon in Leon’s arsenal, but it does not have infinite durability. The Combat Knife can be repaired in the Merchant’s shop for Pesetas, and can even be upgraded for a larger sum.

Keeping your Knife upgraded and repaired will save your life more than once during your journey, and resorting to weak and flimsy Boot Knives or other alternatives can be a pain. Be sure to spend the extra money to keep this weapon at your side.
1Break All Yellow Boxes
Breaking every yellow box, barrel, or container in an area can be tedious, but it is absolutely necessary. These boxes can contain ammo, healing items, gems, and many other helpful items, so taking the time to be thorough can pay off heavily over time.
Because these containers are always marked with bright yellow paint, they are not hard to spot. Some can be hidden down dead-end paths and dark areas, so be sure to check everywhere when the field is clear of enemies to recoup some of your resources after a fight.
