Not only of sleuthing and demon summoning is a detective’s life made inRAIDOU Remastered. Between uncovering clues for the next case and confining new demons to be used inrecipes for the Devil Chart, we have to face some menacing enemies.
InJRPGs, bosses are the highlight of combat. It’s the opportunity for that turn-based system where we always choose “Attack” against fodder enemies to show its full potential and where the player can showcase their action RPG dexterity.

RAIDOU Remastered: How To Fuse Raiho
There’s a new Bancho in town, and he’s ready to get frosty.
Truth be told, I’m not the best action RPG player out there, but I have confidence in my character-building skills. Hence, my sole strategy inRAIDOU Remasteredlay in boosting my demons and letting them do my bidding and winning.

And still, even after hundreds of fusions and builds theorycraft, I struggled with some fights. Let me show you which of themby ranking the 10 hardest bosses inRAIDOU Remastered.
Spoilers ahead in some entries.
10Gashadokuro
The First Challenge
Gashadokuro is the first major boss inRAIDOU Remasteredand functions as a tutorial. That may be why I had some trouble at first. The boss introduced new mechanics, like using the jump to dodge his attacks while protecting my demons at the same time.
InRAIDOU, we can press L3 (or the equivalent button) to pull our demons close to us and nullify any damage. The problem is they stop acting on their own, meaning no more healing or repeated spell casting. But it’s essential to do this because some bosses, like Gashadokuro, have attacks that demons can’t dodge on their own.

So, while I was trying to maneuver, protect my demons, and jump out of this giant skeleton’s AoE, it was way too much for my worm brain to process. Sometimes, I jumped and forgot to protect my demons, which led to their death, or sometimes, I protected them and forgot to jump, which led to my death.
All in all, Gashadokuro is still the easiest among the others here because, come on, it’s the first boss. But the new mechanics can catch players off guard and cause more headaches than expected.

9Ichimokuren
Stop Spinning, Damn Eyeball
Ichimokuren was my first game over in the game, and I have a good reason for that. At the start of the battle, the demon protects its eyes and summons adds. After wiping out his minions, the real fight begins. Once it has taken a certain amount of damage, Ichimokuren goes nuts.
The demon starts to twirl and roll in our direction. As I mentioned above, I needed to protect my demons while trying to dodge away, but my dodge distance wasn’t enough to escape the attack. Then I tried to jump, but most of the time, the jump range also wasn’t enough to save me.

Then, like every good shonen protagonist, it was in my darkest hour that I unlocked a new power: the double jump. Yeah, Raidou can double jump, and I didn’t know. I found out because I was mashing the jump button desperately to dodge that attack and noticed I had jumped twice.
After that, the fight was straightforward. But until unlocking my new power - I swear I read the entire tutorial and saw nothing about double jump - I felt like a helpless newbie Devil Summoner.
The One That Throws Cars
By the time I reached chapter two, I was already trained in both the art of Devil Summoning and detective work. Implying no more getting blindsided by any boss’s special attacks. But enters Red Cape with some new mechanics, which, well, it’s the secret to a long-lasting gameplay loop, I guess.
We face Red Cape a couple of times before finally engaging in the de facto boss fight. In the first moments, it’s easy. But then Red Cape starts blasting Kamehameha from its face, which could vaporize me and my demon in the spot.
RAIDOU Remastered: How To Fuse Beelzebub
Time to mix a demigod with a hydra to create a fly.
Luckily, every time I dodged this thick burst damage, it never failed to trigger a Devil’s Bane.
In two mandatory moments of the fight, Red Cape becomes untargetable while tossing cars at us. It’s not hard to dodge, but the spot where the car explodes turns into a flaming puddle that burned my backside more than once. I didn’t have a hard time, but the unaware might.
The Historical Figure, Yes
Rasputin is a historical Russian figure known for, well, if you know, you know. InRAIDOU, he’s known as a Dark Summoner, meaning he’ll summon demons to fight us. And he does, in the form of Matryoshka dolls. Rasputin starts the fight hiding inside those dolls.
First, we need to peel these dolls until Rasputin shows up, which is pretty easy. Then, beat the monk himself. He doesn’t strike that hard but is incredibly tanky, which drags the battle while letting more Matryoshkas show up, this time carrying bombs.
Rasputin is also one of those bosseswho have a mid-battle conversation. So when I used my Spirit Slash mega booster attack, it didn’t bite all his HP since the game had a mandatory interaction, and the man needed to stay alive.
Still, overall, if you keep using Volt spells and dodging his Megido, the fight will wrap up in your favor.
6Hitokotonushi
Four-In-One Package
Hitokotonushi is more annoying than hard, but that’s precisely why it deserves a spot here. At first, it’s basically a tuft of grass and has the same trait as a flying demon, meaning it will keep blinking away from your strikes unless you shoot it. And since it’s made of grass, its weakness is fire.
Mid-battle, it transforms into a bird, changing its skillset and also its weakness. Ok, it’s no big deal since we can swap spells while in battle, though they start with a fresh cooldown. Hitokotonushi’s bird form also continuously fires energy beams down on us.
After some damage, Hitokotonushi will transform into a beast. And yeah, new attacks, new weaknesses, time to eat that spell cooldown again. The beast form has an area attack around itself with an annoying way-too-discreet tell. Again, it’s not hard, just a pain.
The last form of Hitokotonushi is… a baby. I mean, it’s aShin Megami Tenseispinoff, I don’t know what I was expecting. But if the saying dictates it’s easy to steal candy from a baby, imagine beating one up. Demon baby, guys! Please, don’t sue me.
5Abihiko & Nagasunehiko
Twice The Fun
Fighting two bosses inRAIDOU Remasteredis a struggle by itself. The lock-on system is wonky, and I don’t know how many times I cast a spell on the boss that wasn’t weak to it. But OK, let my demons focus on exploiting weaknesses while I spam light sword attacks.
However, like many other bosses in the game, Abihiko and Nagasunehiko also have mandatory phase transitions. In their case, they team up for a spinning attack very similar to Ichimokuren’s, but way stronger and harder to dodge.
6 Best ATLUS Franchises, Ranked
ATLUS is known and loved for many amazing series, including the following 6 heavy-hitter franchises. Which is the best?
The first time I got caught by this attack, I was pretty much stunlocked and took a brutal beating. I survived because my demons healed me. Otherwise, it was a straight ticket to a show in hell. The problem is that they do this combined attack twice in the fight, and the second time lasts longer.
So I decided to focus on one of the brothers, and as soon as I defeated him, of course, the other absorbed his powers and got a power-up. The survivor went full berserk, spamming tons of area-of-effect attacks while shooting homing projectiles. After a lot of praying, consumables, and guarding, I eventually won.
4Tokoyogami Sukuna-Hikona
Close Your Mouth
At first, nasty Sukuna-Hikona looks like an easy target. Even though he’s resistant to physical attacks, he’s weak to every element. I brought my most intelligent demons, and together, we rained spells on the devil.
Still, I knew it couldn’t be that easy. After all, this was the final stretch ofRAIDOU Remastered. Point in case Sukuna-Hikona unleashed new powers. First, he would stun me and my demon pals and then fire an insane blast of energy that was almost enough to one-shot me, but it certainly wiped out my demons.
At certain moments, the possessed General Munakata would regain control of his body and leave Sukuna-Hikona defenseless. However, at other times, it was just bait, and attacking the boss during that window left everyone confused while also triggering an explosion around the boss that instantly killed my demons.
Granted, once I learned his underhanded tactics, I played more cautiously and won. But until I figured them out, I was adding a few more deaths to my already stacked toll count.
3Mishaguji
How Someone Can Be Charmed By This Ugly Face
I don’t know if anyone got beaten down by this creepy-looking boss as much as I did, but wow, aside from the last ones here, Mishaguji gave me a hell of a time. And it all boils down to one thing: negative status.
It’s pretty easy to dodge Mishaguji’s physical attacks because you may see them coming from miles away. The problem is he keeps spamming negative status effects like crazy on both Raidou and the demons. Stuff like poison and, worst of all, charm.
After losing 50% of his HP, Mishaguji starts firing cursed bolts, leaving the entire party charmed when hit. As someone who exploited the power of demons to annihilate enemies, I learned firsthand how strong they were… because now they were hittingme.
And while I was running from my backstabbing demon friends, the boss kept summoning minions that constantly healed him. By the time I managed to figure out everything that was happening, protect my demons from charm, and take down the adds, it was easier to just die, reset the fight, and try again.
2Raidou XL
Fighting The Future Me
By now, you’ve already figured out my ironclad strategy: boost my demons so they kick every opponent’s ass while I sit on the sidelines drinking juice and eating popcorn. To do that,I equipped every Summoner Skillto boost my MAG recovery.
So, imagine my surprise when the first form of the final boss sealed away my baby demons and challenged me to a 1v1. Buddies, I got my ass whooped a few times before understanding what I was supposed to do.
Annoyingly so, andmaybe it was karma, Raidou XL kept spamming dodge every time I tried to hit her, either with the sword or with magic. And right after dodging, she counterattacked with a strike of her own that hit like an unfueled rocket.
Occasionally, a prompt emerged to use a Devil’s Bane, but the timing was ridiculously tight, and if I missed it, Raidou XL would execute the skill on me instead. Needless to say, I died quite a bit before summoning my inner samurai skills and bringing the win home.
1Soulless God Yasomagatsu
Joyless God As Well
As per tradition with most, if not all, JRPGs, the final boss ofRAIDOU Remastereddoesn’t have just one form but four in total. The first is Raidou XL, the second and third are quite easy, but the last one… I’m not even sure if it’s mechanically difficult or just plain chaotic.
The Soulless God throws pretty much every mechanic you’ve learned from other bosses right at you. But not in an orderly way. They overlap each other, forcing you to spend more time dodging, jumping, and protecting your demons than actually attacking.
The thing is, if you want to recover MAG to keep your HP topped, you need to attack. Andevery attempt I made to hurt the boss resulted in Raidou getting hurt in the process. It’s a bonkers fight and, hands down, the hardest one.
I just don’t know if it’s deservedly challenging or if Atlus simply cranked up the difficulty to justify it being the final boss ofRAIDOU Remastered. But anyhow, just prepare yourself, don’t hoard your recovery items, and send your stupid future self back to their stupid future.
