In May last year,Sonyunveiled Fairgame$, a heist game, as one of its live service projects gestating in one of the company’s first-party studios.
While no release date was given, a new rumor has surfaced stating that the game has been internally delayed to 2026.

Sony Bend Studio Reportedly Cuts Contractors Following Live Service Game Cancelation
Sony has cut Bend Studio contractors with some being let go after February 14, due to the cancelation of the studio’s live service project.
Fairgame$ Is The First Project From Haven Studios
The latest rumor comes from Giant Bomb’s Jeff Grubb, who has leaked accurate info before. Speaking in the latestGame Mess podcast, Grubb mentions that as far as he’s aware, Fairgame$ won’t be released this year, and has been pushed back to 2026.
Obviously, it’s hard to refute this since the game doesn’t have a release window at all. The live service game was announced in 2023, and is in development by Haven Studios, the Canadian development house co-founded by Assassin’s Creed co-creator Jade Raymond. The studio was acquired by Sony in 2022 despite not having released a single game to retail. However, the company is credited as a support studio for the much-maligned andhistory-making flopfrom Firewalk Studios, Concord.

There’s little known about Fairgame$, and it’s official description reads: “Welcome to Fairgame$ - your chance to rob the rich and rebalance the scales. Fairgame$ is a competitive modern heist game where you team up to break into exotic locations and steal the cargo. The twist? You not only need to outsmart guards and security systems - you also compete against other teams. Crews that extract with the most loot and flair might just rise to the top of Fairgame$. Take it ‘til you make it - who will you recruit first for your crew?”
Shuhei Yoshida Said He’d Resist PlayStation Live Service Push If He Was Still In Charge
Former SIE president Shuhei Yoshida said he would have resisted Hermen Hult’s live service push.
Sony’s live service push have been making the rounds in the news lately, though not in the way the electronics giant would have liked. Last month, word got out thatSonycanceled two live service games, one based on God of War.

For every game that succeeds, like Helldivers 2, many others falter. Just this past year,Concord,XDefiant, and more live service games shut their doors. However, if it works, the revenue stream is big enough that studios can literally work on one game for years and still thrive.
We’re still in February, so there’s a chance we can hear more about Fairgame$ in the coming weeks.
