Aiden Pearce is coming to PS Plus this month.

While the monthly free games were announced earlier, we now know of new titles coming to the Extra and Premium tiers. These launch close to the end of the month, and we have quite a few big names this time around. However, one title is going to surprise many people, more so due to the fate of the franchise.

PS Plus May 2024 Adds Ubisoft Classic Hacking Title to Catalog

Ubisoft is one of the most well-known game developers in the industry, with multiple franchises such asAssassin’s Creed,Far Cry, andRainbow Sixactive to this very day. Many of their titles are on PS Plus, and the service even has a dedicated section for Ubisoft games. For May, we are getting one of their classics from the PlayStation 3.

Watch Dogs, the open-world sci-fi action-adventure game, will be coding its way into the catalog on May 21. It’s not the only game to be coming to the service this month. However, this is a surprising addition, as Ubisoft may have already decided to end this franchise for good.

There are three games in the series: the original, a sequel, andWatch Dogs: Legion. The first game did pretty well, but the second and third failed to live up to the company’s expectations. According to well-known insider j0nathan,the failure of the third installment prompted Ubisoftto finally end the franchise.

Games that are added to these catalogs are usually done in a way to build hype for the franchise or a new game from the developer. It allows people to test the series or what the developer is capable of, encouraging more people to spend money on new releases. So, for a dead-in-the-water title to be added is a bit surprising.

Other Games Joining Watch Dogs on the PS Plus Catalog

While not everyone is going to be happy with a PlayStation 3 game,Red Dead Redemption 2is also riding onto the scene. Rockstar’s second game in the series, which functions as a prequel to the first, is now free-to-play. It seems Rockstar already wants togain public attention for the inevitable launch ofGTA 6.

Gaming was one of my earliest passions then along came writing, and here we are. I’ve been in the content creation space for several years now and as gamer for even longer. From understanding the complexities of a multilayer narrative to the simply joy of “big gun go boom”, my goal is to capture all the emotions in between and put them down in an engaging manner.
