For this penultimate Spotlight Hour of July 2023, Niantic will be adding Rhyhorn as the featured Pokemon in the Spotlight Hour. Rhyhorn is one of the classics, as it hails from the Kanto region in Generation 1. Ash’s Rhyhorn managed to grab the attention of a lot of fans, and if you wanted to catch one in Pokemon GO now is the best time. The Spotlight Hour, which will be held between 6 pm and 7 pm local time, will be boosting the spawn rate of Rhyhorn, and award players some exciting bonuses on top of that.
Pokemon Go Rhyhorn Spotlight Hour July 2023 Shiny Status & Bonuses
For players who are just solely focused on shiny hunting in Pokemon GO, there is some good news, as a shiny variant of Rhyhorn does exist in Pokemon GO. The shiny trio of Rhyhorn and its evolutions, Rhydon and Rhyperior were added all the way back in February 2020 as part of the Community Day. You might be quite familiar with the rock-colored appearance of the regular Rhyhorn, and the shiny variant retains its characteristics to some extent. Instead of the grey color, the shiny variant is brown, which still resembles a rock anyway. Additionally, you would see the sparkles associated with the Pokemon, which would suggest that it is shiny. However, the color scheme is more likely to catch your attention in this particular scenario.
While you might be itching to own a shiny Rhyperior, the shiny rates still stand between you and your dreams. Spotlight Hours don’t improve the shiny rates, so it will still be difficult to catch a shiny. That being said, there are some really cool bonuses up for grabs, as players will get twice the amount of candy they get for catching Pokemon. Additionally, if you wish to take it a step further, you can use some Pinap Berries as well to quadruple the number of candies you can earn during the course of the event.
