After the conclusion of theValentine’s Day eventinPokemon Go, Niantic is back with yet another event. As part of its yearly anniversary celebrations,NiantichasannouncedPokemon GoTour: Kanto. For starters, Kanto is the region in whichAsh Ketchumoriginally started his journey to compete in the Indigo League in the first season of the Pokemon anime. Now players have the chance to experience the Kanto region inPokemon Govia the in-game event and catch shiny variants of the 150 Pokemon found in the region.
During the course of the event, players will have the chance to earn a plethora of rewards and grab some exclusive Pokemon.Niantichas also revamped the way events work inPokemon Go, by offering players an option to choose between Red and Green versions of the event. This is quite similar to the Pokemon Games, which have different Pokemon based on the version you choose. Here are all the details about thePokemon GoTour: Kanto.

Pokemon Go Tour: Kanto - What are the event timings and schedule?
Just like the otherPokemon Goevents,Pokemon GoTour: Kanto’s timings will be based on your local time. The event will commence at 9:00 am local time on Saturday, June 26, 2025, and will go on till 9:00 p.m. local time. Niantic has taken a step further in keeping players engaged throughout the course of the event by dividing the overall event into multiple parts. Each hour of the event will focus on one part of the Kanto region, while the last two hours will bring Pokemon from the entire Kanto region. This can also help the players in devising a plan to catch their favorite Pokemon. Here is the complete schedule of the event.
Pokemon Go Tour: Kanto Red or Green - Which one to choose?
Before you may take part in the event, you have to choose between the Red and Green versions of the event. This can be quite a daunting task considering that each version has an equally lucrative set of Pokemon. Apart from that, there will be another set of Pokemon that will have a higher spawn rate for their shiny variants during the event. Here are the key differences between the two versions.

Pokemon Go Tour: Kanto Green
Higher Shiny Rate Pokemon
The following Pokemon will also have a higher shiny spawn rate in both versions of the event.
Pokemon Go Tour: Kanto - Research and Rewards
NoPokemon Goevent is complete without research quests and a wide range of rewards. ForPokemon GoTour: Kanto, there are a total ofthree research questsplayers can take part in. The first quest is a timed-research and players need to battle trainers on the in-game map to earn rewards. A competition which was held last month gave players a chance to become one of these trainer characters. Irrespective of whether you have a ticket or not, you will be able to take part in this research quest.
The other two research quests are exclusive to owners of thePokemon GoTour: Kanto ticket. The first special research is an event-exclusivePokémon GOTour: Kanto Special Research story. Completing the story will grant you an encounter with a shiny Ditto. After completing the first special research quest, the next quest will unlock and it will be quite longer than the first one. Completing the second quest will give you a chance to add the legendary shiny Mew to your team.
Pokemon Go Tour: Kanto - Collection Challenges
Alongside the various research quests and rewards, players can also take part in Collection Challenges. There are a couple of things to note, however. First, the Collection Challenges are only available for owners of thePokemon GoTour: Kanto Ticket. Secondly, the ten Collection Challenges will be available even after the conclusion of the event. Players can complete the challenges between 9 am local time on Saturday, 20th February to 7:59 pm local time on Sunday, 28th February. Here are the ten Collection Challenges that will be available as part ofPokemon GoTour: Kanto.
The first five collection challenges are based on specific locations in the Kanto region. You need to keep an eye on the event schedule to complete these challenges. Considering that each of these regions will be in focus twice during the course of the event, it shouldn’t be hard to complete these challenges. The Raid, Research and Evolve challenges will basically involve completing the aforesaid activities.
Things get quite tricky for the last two challenges. These two challenges are specific to the version of the event you have chosen to take part in. For the Trade challenge, you need to trade a Pokemon which is not present in your version. For instance, if you chosePokemon GoTour: Kanto Red, then you need to trade a Pokemon which is exclusive toPokemon GoTour: Kanto Green. To make it easier for you to trade, Niantic has increased the range of trades to 40km during the event. The Incense challenge is relatively simpler. All you need to do is catch one of the version-exclusive Pokemon using Incense.
That’s pretty much all you need to know about thePokemon GoTour: Kanto event. The event kicks off tomorrow so grab the ticket if you haven’t already, and embark on a journey to relieve the Kanto region experience!
