Persona 6has started to feel like a myth, as Atlus does not seem to be getting over the success of the fifth mainline game in the series. Originally released in 2016,Persona 5has had multiple variations through the years, such as a dancing rhythm title and even a tactical RPG launched just last year. The publisher is obsessed withPersona 3and5to take part in any discussion regarding a sixth proper game in the franchise.

High school settings have become a staple of the franchise, and Persona 6 seems to be continuing the tradition.

However, although there still has not been an announcement from Atlus, the latest leak is in regards to the potential setting ofPersona 6, and it really shouldn’t be that surprising for fans of the series.

To No One’s Surprise, Persona 6 May Have a High School Setting Again

Aside from being excellent social simulation titles, another aspect that’s unique to thePersonafranchise and has become a staple at this point is its consistent high school setting. To put that into context, every single game in the series has revolved around Japanese high school students, with the only exception beingPersona 2: Eternal Punishment, which was released more than two decades ago.

According to a reliableleakeron X who has previously revealed plenty of information regarding Atlus and SEGA’s titles,Persona 6will apparently continue the tradition, and there’s no detour regarding the setting at all.

Since Atlus has still not made any further comments aboutPersona6, fans try to piece together any bit of information they can find through leaks and rumors. This led to a user on X stating that a potential “college setting is the worst possible change Persona could undertake,” but that speculation was quickly debunked by the leaker called Midori.

Fan Opinions Are Divided Over the Persona 6 Setting Leak

One of the major reasons whyPersonafans appreciatedEternal Punishmentwas that it tried doing something different with the series’ signature formula, but after that, Atlus went back to the high school setting, and it seems to be continuing the trend inPersona 6as well. But then again, the community is so attached to the recurring setting by now that if the studio tries going in a different direction, it could end up being a risky move.

Reacting to the recent leak, a fan on Redditpointedout how they would “love a mainline Persona game that’s a bit more adult,” but it is understandable why the publisher is not changing something that essentially is not broken in the first place.
